Where is Weepu?

Zolton Zavos writes: Stuff.co reported this morning that Piri Weepu has been left out of the All Black squad for the RWC. Is this a mistake or a show of considerable foresight? Let us know your thoughts.

Crowd Says (3)

I think Weepu has become too similar to Kelleher in style and I think has failed to provide the spark when he comes on as a susbitute. Impact players HAVE to make a n impact. Leonard has done so every time he comes on; Weepu has not this season.

The late-night indiscretion just made the selectors’ decision easier, not just in terms of omitting Weepu but the others. Once Lauaki was known to be fit enough, it came down to Flavell vs Thorne and they went with experience and discipline.

It is signiifcant that Conrad Smith survived, out of the group that came back late. This, I believe, is because I reckon he will be the first-choice centre once he is fully fit. Toeava is just being given all the experience he can at the moment so he doesnt come in cold should Smith break down again.

As I said in an earlier post, I believe the ABs have been foxing all year. They have shown little in all their matches and deliberately so. They showed their dominance upfront when they had to on Saturday and Carter, despite having good ball in the second half, played it very cagily. Not a single backline move all year. The ABs have done enough to win everything while playing well within themselves.

Interesting point Shah…i never thought of that..I agree i never did see an AB backline play this year, but is that just their style ? Something for the Wallabies to consider.

I agree with Shah on the foxing angle.

The lead up to the try they scored just involved pick and drives. They never even looked like passing it, even though they had an overlap.

I turned the game off after that, they just wanted to win the game and get back to preparing for the World Cup in my opinon.
