As a student of St Patrick’s College (Launceston, same school Bellchambers attended) and a loyal Essendon fan, I congratulate Tom Bellchambers on his recent signing with the Bombers.

Over the past year I have followed the progress of Tom and was particularly pleased with the athletic ability he possessed for a ruckman. I also matched his strength with fellow Bomber Jason Laycock and if he can stand up to the level of a player like Jason, he will be a highly respected footballer.

With Essendon going tall in the draft and already having a high number of talls, our forward line would welcome someone like Bellchambers to play alongside Lloyd and Lucas.

Another positive to come out of the selection of Tom is that it can free up David Hille which would allow him to drift forward and back, as he can do that so well. I will be on the lookout for a Bellchambers debut early next year and hopefully a premiership.
