It’s time for the Eagles coaches to accept responsibility

6 Have your say

The West Coast Eagles continue to struggle for form, even though they still have 17 premiership players. Surely it’s time that the coaching staff were held accountable for what can only be described as a very poor game plan.

We have seen, even in the days of Judd and Cousins, the over-use of handball on the half back line where the players tend to group together and then turn the ball over.

This ultimately turns into goals.

The game plan lacks the run-of-ball carries through the lines and the midfield appears have no cohesion, leadership or structure.

When watching the other teams that are positioned around the Eagles on the AFL ladder, at least they have glimpses of good play. The Eagles have no such showing as they continue to persist with a very questionable game plan that has, at best, had limited success since the premiership year.

No white Knight will come riding into the club from the draft who will turn the club around, and the club cannot afford to sit back and wait until the 2009 season to change their fortunes.

You have to start winning somewhere.

We are yet to see a club get belted all season then front up the following season as a premiership contender. Most seem to turn their fortunes around mid-to-late season.

An example of which would be Essendon this year.

Jim Beam Devil's Cut

As bourbon ages, a portion of liquid is lost from the barrel due to evaporation. This is known as the Angel's Share. When the bourbon is taken from the barrel, a certain amount is left trapped within the wood. It's that extracted liquid, and the rich flavours from deep within the barrel that are in Jim Beam's Devil's Cut.
