Grand final ticket price rise

Ticket prices for the AFL grand final and preliminary finals will rise slightly this year. The cheapest adult grand final ticket will cost $161, up by 3.5 per cent from last year, with preliminary final ticket prices to rise by the same percentage, the league announced today.

But the AFL said the base prices for finals in the first two weeks of this year’s series at the MCG would remain the same as last year.

Prices would still change slightly for those tickets, due to ticket agency fees and ground redevelopment levies.

The cost of tickets will vary in other states.

The cheapest tickets for elimination finals - on the opening weekend of the series - would be $43 in Victoria, $35 in New South Wales, $38 in Queensland and $35.50 in SA.

As the ladder currently stands, fourth-placed Sydney and sixth-placed Brisbane would each get one home final, with the other seven finals to be played in Melbourne.
