Mundine, a former St George Illawarra player who staged his own walkout midway through the 2000 NRL season to pursue a career in the ring, says critics of Williams are behaving like “parasites”.
With Williams understood to be stranded in London en route to Paris to play rugby union after walking out on the Bulldogs, his lawyers are preparing to challenge the foundation of the league’s regulations, the salary cap.
“I’m 100 per cent behind my brother and 100 per cent in his corner,” Mundine said in Wednesday’s Sydney Morning Herald newspaper.
While the NRL’s 16 clubs have backed the salary cap in a meeting on Tuesday, Mundine says it should be abolished.
Clubs and fans fear some teams may cease to exist if the salary cap is removed, but Mundine argued players should simply be able to earn top dollar.
“If he wants new goals and new dreams, he’ll inspire kids to chase their goals and dreams, and everybody should support him,” Mundine said.
Mundine said there were “lots of haters out there” and described media critics as “nothing but leeches and parasites as far as writing the negative stuff about Sonny Bill Williams”.
“There’s no salary cap on workers, for a plumber or a carpenter or a builder,” Mundine added.
“A worker should get what he’s worth. There should be no salary cap.
“There should be no salary cap and they (players) should get what they’re worth.”
The Bulldogs, in conjunction with the NRL, began court action against the renegade star on Monday with the NSW Supreme Court issuing a subpoena for Williams to appear in court next Tuesday.
Williams is believed to be currently en route to Toulon for talks with the French rugby club about a possible switch to rugby union.

Jim Beam Devil's Cut
As bourbon ages, a portion of liquid is lost from the barrel due to evaporation. This is known as the Angel's Share. When the bourbon is taken from the barrel, a certain amount is left trapped within the wood. It's that extracted liquid, and the rich flavours from deep within the barrel that are in Jim Beam's Devil's Cut.

Typical Mundine, this loudmouth Ali imitator and wannabe should have the supreme court put a national restraining order on his mouth, he is an embarrassment.
Who told Mundine that being a big mouth qualifies him for the court of public opinion.
Here is a guy who has a public persona less humble than Hitler and he has the hide to tell us that what Williams did will teach kids to chase their goals and dreams, yes it will, at anyone or anythings expense, good message fool.
He uses words like goals, dreams, racist, haters, critics and parasite because they are emotive, simple, idiot friendly and portray a victim.
No substance, no ethics, no thought. just words. He’s my brother so you should support him.
Well mate your “brother” just deceived every team mate, every one of those kids you were talking about and just about every other person that helped him become the “worth” he feels he is.
If “Mr Cloak and Dagger” tries to martyr himself for the good of the players it wont wash. The salary cap may be a restriction of trade but it does not excuse his betrayal or premeditated deception. But you wouldn’t care about that would you.
Why is it that every time a sports man is in trouble your around, let me guess, your such a wise person to confide in. No hang on , on second thoughts you use them to promote yourself, yeah thats it.
Last night was another disgraceful episode in your mediocre life, you took a call from Williams as soon as the fight was over, and then told us all ,why? Was it your way of telling us your important.
I knew who it was and so did many others your such a self promoting show pony.
Another anti-establishment bandwagon for you to jump on, another confused ear for you to manipulate, your so bloody predictable. Most morons are.
I hope the Yanks remember your post 9/11 comments and are good to their word on you fighting in the States.
Oh one more thing, if you had tried to stay on your feet last night like most fighters and not laid down, you would have been beaten.
But who cares about the honour and courage eh, its all about the win kids.
Yep he’s your brother alright !

Spud Murphy, I think your being a bit unfair to Mundine. You claim his abit emotive, with all due respect, your whole post was abit emotive. Agreed, Mundine is abit of a loud mouth, but hsi been a loud mouth even from his Rugby days and before that. read what his junior rugby coaches have said about his persona. So to brand him as a Muhammad Ali impersonator is abit far off. You also say his a self promoter, will, as legendary hall of fame boxing trainer Angelo Dundee says, “the worst thing you can do in this business is to stay quite”. If he wants to make more money, which is what its about, he has to open his mouth.
You completely belittled his character, but his done alot of work for community that people don’t hear about, he took his drug addict of a cousin of the streets and took him in and changed his life, a story Steve Waugh will testify too. Those who know Mundine will attest to his good character. Sometimes he says a few things off the mark in front of the camera, these comments become sensationalized by the media, and he is portrayed to the public as a loud mouth who likes to play the victim as you put it. I don’t think lack of journalistc ethics within elements or most of the media can be denied. Mundine is a decent human being, ask any of those whose close to him, they’ll attest, so please don’t belittle his character.
As for Sonny Bill, im a Dogs fan, I feel hurt, but even i say, lets what to hear his reasons before making judgements.
