Three votes: Channel Seven, for keeping faith with Australian football fans right around the country by showing the Adelaide v Richmond game last Sunday, even if it was only because its contract with the AFL stipulated it must.
It shouldn’t have taken anyone by surprise, as it was advertised well ahead in program guides. As of late Tuesday, the official AFL website said we were still going to get North Melbourne v Carlton live on Seven in the northern states this Sunday, too, but by Wednesday morning the game had been moved to Foxtel Channel 518, meaning Fox will be transmitting two games in competition with itself.
50-metre penalty: The Daily Telegraph in Sydney for its hypocritical blustering and posturing over Channel Seven’s decision to show the football instead of the Olympics. That was a bit rich after the newspaper had spent more than a week lecturing the world at large about the sanctity of contracts and what a scoundrel $onny Bill Williams was for breaking his with the Canterbury Bulldogs in the NRL.
Winners: Pies by 15, Bombers by 3, Demons by 1, Bulldogs by 35, Swans by 7, Tigers by 1, Shinboners by 19, Saints by 4. Last week 5 right, making 96/152 overall.
If all my remaining tips were to get up, the final points ladder, with games won out of the final six in parentheses, would be:
Geelong (5 wins) 80 points
Western Bulldogs (4) 70
Hawthorn (4) 68
Sydney (3) 54
St Kilda (4) 52
Collingwood (4) 52
North Melbourne (5) 54
Richmond (4) 46
——
Adelaide (3) 44
Brisbane (1) 40
Essendon (3) 36
Carlton (2) 36
Port Adelaide (1) 24
Fremantle (2) 20
West Coast (2) 16
Melbourne (1) 12

Jim Beam Devil's Cut
As bourbon ages, a portion of liquid is lost from the barrel due to evaporation. This is known as the Angel's Share. When the bourbon is taken from the barrel, a certain amount is left trapped within the wood. It's that extracted liquid, and the rich flavours from deep within the barrel that are in Jim Beam's Devil's Cut.
