Manly backrower Glenn Stewart says he can’t wait to celebrate his and brother Brett’s selection in the Australian World Cup squad. He’s just got to find him first.
“I haven’t seen him yet, he’s gone MIA,” Glenn Stewart said, Manly’s ongoing grand final celebrations having apparently claimed their first victim.
“I’m just rapt, just to be playing alongside him is unreal.
“It’s just a credit to how the team’s been going all year, we’ve got to thank our (teammates) and coaching staff, they’ve helped us get there.
“I didn’t think I was chance, I suppose it helps being in a wining side.”
Test coach Ricky Stuart said Glenn deserved the opportunity to join Brett in the green and gold for the first time on the back of a stellar 2008 campaign.
Stuart said he was particularly impressed with the workaholic lock’s grand final performance, Glenn playing a leading role in Manly’s 40-0 flogging of Melbourne on Sunday.
“It didn’t really come down to Sunday’s game – Sunday’s game proved to the selectors what they were thinking about a number of individuals, Glenn Stewart was obviously one of those,” Stuart said.
“I spoke to Mr and Mrs Stewart last year in Wellington after the Test (in which Brett made his Test debut) and explained to them that they had a brilliant football player in Brett.
“Glenn has shown as much ability – he’s been in terrific form this year, I was really impressed with his game on Sunday evening as well, I thought he was outstanding.
“They would be two very proud parents and they deservedly should be.”
No doubt the proud parents will be keen to share in the their children’s selection joy, provided they can locate them.

Good for them, really pleased to see 2 brothers involved and the wolfman, i really cant fault the selections this year, whats going on with the selectors, have they woken up from a deep sleep or something. Every player involved has the right to be there, and now looking forward to see them play as a unit.
