Les Pogliacomi, where are you now?

I’m curious as to where the goalkeeper, Les Pogliacomi, has disappeared to. He was dropped for Chris Day by Ronnie More in the 2005-2006 season, and went to Blackpool FC. However, John Sheridan brought him back to Oldham in the 2006/2007 season.

Pogliacomi was an Australian Schoolboy International in 1994 and represented the Australia Under 20 team in 1995. He started playing top flight football in Australia for various NSL teams and was rated one of the better goalkeepers playing in Australia before moving to England.

He is well known for being the goalkeeper for the Wollongong Wolves in 2000 when they won the NSL Grand Final against Perth Glory 3-3 (7-6 on penalties), where his final save won the game.

On 26th February 2008, it was announced that due to an injury requiring extensive surgery and rehabilitation, Pogliacomi’s contract with Oldham Athletic was mutually terminated.

He planned to return to his native Australia for the surgery and had hopes of playing in the A-League. So the question is: is he back in Australia? Has he recovered from his injuries? And is it an opportunity for the new clubs, like Gold Coast, to make him an offer hs can’t refuse?

Considering Gold Coast wants Jess Van Stratten it may be difficult for Les to join there. Perhaps Northern Queensland

Hi Chris,

Did you find out where Les is now? Here’s a link to his Facebook appreciation page: http://www.facebook.com/wall.php?id=9098206378

Cheers
