Bright back to Stone Brothers for ‘09
Ford star Jason Bright will return to Stone Brothers Racing next season in a bid to challenge the cashed-up V8 Supercar pacesetters.
Bright’s Fujitsu Racing entry and key staff from his Britek Motorsport operation will relocate to SBR’s Queensland headquarters to be part of a three-car “super-team”.
The triple-title winning outfit aims to tangle with heavyweights Holden Racing Team, Triple Eight Race Engineering and Ford Performance Racing.
Bright is convinced the merger of the two operations will produce instant success on the track.
“This is the perfect opportunity to return to the pointy end of the field and the timing for this merger has never been better,” Bright said.
“I’ve tried to push the Fujitsu Racing Falcon well into the top 10 and have done so on a number of occasions.
“However, with a new car coming on stream and the changes in fuel technology we simply don’t have the resources, or time, to research and develop what is needed to be competitive.
“Ross and Jimmy Stone have made great strides in these areas and already have a race-winning package.
“I am delighted to be able to return to a team I enjoyed so much success with when I first started my V8 Supercar career.
“I’m after my first V8 championship starting right now.”
Bright will be taking up his second job with Ross and Jimmy Stone.
After his V8 debut with Garry Rogers Motorsport in 1997 the Victorian joined SBR and piloted the team’s Pirtek Falcon for two seasons.
The highlight was his 1998 Bathurst victory with Steven Richards.
