Yawn!
Shouldnt be basketball, it should be basket-case!
Having an established and well credentialled league that was booming in the 90's, to the tripe that exists now is astounding (Im not talking about playing standards, that has been consistent). Its too late for the NBL, this move should have happened years ago. Noone in Sydney gives a shit anymore, with the Kings gone and the West team called some ridiculous name that alientated the WHOLE Sydney basketball fraternity.

There's a reason the Coodabeens call Basketball 'the nonsense'. It is just that.
Just start at 97-all and play for a minute.
There should be some struggle to get the ball to the other end - the 4 footy codes, hockey etc all involve such battles.
Basketball is just shoot, run away, defend the circle, run up the other end, shoot, run away etc.
Tape a game, play it on fast forward and you'll see how little creativity there is.
While some of the individual and team plays to actually score can be spectacular - it is fast food rather than a balanced diet of tactics and skills.

Surely they wouldn't seriously consider a 6 team national comp!
To me even 8 would be selling it short, but I guess something is better than nothing.
Let's hope they put their heads together and use the opportunity to create something entertaining and viable.

Consolidation may prove to be tricky in the short run, but the synergy will benefit Australian basketball as a whole in the long run.
