Will Bowen spark the Blaze?

Due to a serious foot injury, the Gold Coast Blaze have released Juaquin Hawkins from his commitments to the club. They’ve immediately replaced him with American import Justin Bowen.

In his debut game against the Dragons, Bowen impressed with 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

Coach Brendan Joyce is still confident his team can come up with some wins, but you feel it’s too little too late.

Sitting on the bottom of the ladder, it’d take a miracle for the Blaze to make the playoffs this season.

This week they come up against the Spirit, the Hawks and the 36ers, all games Joyce would feel quietly confident of winning. But can Bowen help to turn around a pretty ordinary season for the Blaze?

Only time will tell.
