The naming of Rick Rickert after round nine takes the Breakers tally to three Player of the Week awards this season. Rickert was given the nod after averaging a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds per game in the team’s wins over Cairns and Townsville.
This is the second consecutive week the Breakers have won the award, with Kirk Penney, who also received the accolades in round one, winning in round eight.
The Breakers currently sit second on the ladder, behind the South Dragons, who they face this week at the North Shore Events Center.
The Dragons are on a hot streak and with center Matt Burston coming off 25 points and 14 rebounds against Adelaide, they’ll be looking to take the points.
However, with three other contenders for round nine’s award in Kirk Penney, CJ Bruton and Oscar Forman, the Breakers will be hard to beat at home.
It’s shaping up to be one of the matches of the season so far.

It was abit of a let down as i’m a south dragons fan, but they were really impressive and deserved to win.

The Breakers are an impressive outfit indeed but I think the Dragons still have a lot more to show.
