Phil Waugh’s never-say-die attitude and his ability to lead and lift those around him can never be taken for granted. I’d take it any day over Smith and Pocock.
If Deans prefers Smith and Pocock for the Wallabies, then Waugh should consider a switch to the front row.
He’s quicker and harder edged than any of the hookers running around now.
Waugh also has the size. Regardless, we could always fatten him up a little and I’m sure he’ll be able to throw as well as any of the current mob.
We’ll get another six years out him at No.2.
Either way, if Waugh isn’t lost to Europe as expected, we’ll see him as the No.7 or No.2 at the 2011 World Cup.
Smith plays like a Kiwi, which is probably why Dean’s prefers him.
