The fact the Hall-less Swans had a win on Sunday probably helped convince the powers that be that a fresh start was required.

Chop,

yeah that's right. If another year in the contract both parties can agree to terminate, he could be traded or if a trade cannot be done then nominate for the draft. nI this instance with no contract I think the Swans have no ability to trade.

At least I think that's right.

All AFL player movements are currently post season, even if as in this case the contract has been terminated at Round 14.

Thanks Redb, is that because he's off contract at season's end? If he had another year left, would the Swans then have to trade him away?

One part of AFL (there are many) I don't understand is the machinations of player movements between clubs

Chop,

Once he's released from his contract he will be able to nominate for the pre season draft and take his chances.

He's not just considering quitting, he's just done it....If he quits now, does that give Sydney the chance to trade him at the end of the season?

Big bad Bazza is gone at the Swans.

Bit of a shame, don't mind Hall. Looks like he wants to play in 2010, perhaps the western Bulldogs. He needs a club with a few tough nuts to take the heat out of situations. That is, instead of no Swans players giving him some protection, a Bulldog player would stand up to the opposition defender.

Still, Bazza in boxing would be interesting as well.
