Woeful Wallabies don’t deserve a cent

This week should see the Australian National Rugby Union team tried for treason. It is disgraceful that they should ask for money for a trial match that will determine whether they play overseas or not.
It doesn’t matter whether the match was at Manly Oval or at the SFS, they don’t deserve a cent after their dishonorable performance in Wellington.
Robbie Deans must now realise that he has taken on a poisoned chalice. Rugby Union is made of people who are self-absorbed and don’t give a damn about the state of the union.
This mindset has seen them lose sight of the truth.
Union, which was the second most popular code in 2003 after the World Cup, is now fourth, even behind football on the back of woeful management and mediocre performances.
Rugby this week sunk to a new low and will not recover for at least ten years. It sickens me as a person living outside the rugby heartland who has fought numerous battles against league supporters.
Now I couldn’t care about the squad as they have betrayed everyone.
Every player who demanded money should be made to front a press conference and explain how they deserve money for the trial match.
I can guarantee that there would not be one player who deserves a single cent. Anyone in a leadership position on the field that demands money should resign immediately.
These players have been already found guilty and are sentenced to years in obscurity as the stark reality faces union that no-one cares anymore about their code.
Which is a shame, as Robbie Deans has nearly got it right.

Go back under your rock. All this Wallaby bashing is boring as bat sh.t. Get over it and move on.
The cowardly effort of the journo to come out bag the Wallabies about this “trial” was a disgrace. This all happened back in August so why wasnt it news then? Its called kicking people when there down and it doesnt get any lower IMO.
As Rugby fans we can be disappointed with that last Test, the effort was not good enough. I think the players know so we dont need 25 farking threads about it on here with a different headline every day. Be constructive or pi.ss off!
There is plenty of talent in this country (despite what some might like to say) it just needs to be harnessed and become mentally tougher (dont forget how many Tests we have led at half time).
It will come and I am looking forward to the Spring Tour more than ever now.

Well why was it kept secret? This is a national disgrace. I will watch Rugby Union before League mate and thats why this hurts me more. Admit it as well Union is in trouble and this does not help the cause

John,
You’re entitled to express your opinion, & from the posts & hits of the past week, plenty of people think the same as you.
Justin,
Constructive criticism is one thing, & being an apologist for unacceptable performances is another thing. Rugby fans have had a gut full of the Wallabies’ insipid performances these past number of years. There is a growing perception, right or wrong, too many of them are more interested in their bank balance.
All the faults of Australian rugby aren’t the fault of the Wallabies, but they must acknowledge their lack of contribution to the national cause.
I have to ask the question, if we win all 4 NH tests on the spring tour, what will this prove? That we’re the 3rd best rugby nation on the planet?
We always measure ourselves against the best, & strive to be number one. In rugby union, 3rd best is simply not good enough.
Finally, how do you propose all this wonderful talent we supposedly have should be harnessed & become mentally tougher, since these are two of the problems facing the structure of Australian rugby?
Shall we wave a magic wand & make it happen like magic?

Sheek – If the players were so interested in their bank balances they would be in Japan or Europe would they not? I think those lines are sprouted from mouths with little understanding of game or just people who throw up lazy arguments as to poor state of the tram.
If we win 4 Tests it will be a great achievement. How often is a GS won? And 18 months from RWC would indicate good timing for AUS. I sure as hell am not predicting it though but would you prefer beatings so you can sink the boot in more?
As for harnessing the talent that comes back to the selectors and coaching. They have not been great in this department so far o am sure you agree. The mental side is more difficult, the group need some strong leaders but beginning to win games with the right side will assist this

I’m of the same opinion. Even departing players like Latham, Harrison and Hewat didn’t want to go.
