Why are the A-league crowds in such drastic decline? What has the FFA and/or the clubs done to alienate the supporters who were coming?

Are the admission prices too high? Are there too many ticket categories and too many restrictions on movement within the stadiums?

Does the FFA do enough to promote the games? Are the clubs engaging the supporters so they feel a part of the club?

They are a lot of questions, and I hope someone is trying to find answers.

I hope the game did not get ahead of itself, in believing the product is better than it really is, and expect people to be thankful to be provided such entertainment.

To me the answer is to keep ticket prices down and allow free access and movement once inside the stadium.

First come, best dressed for the best seats; and if you feel like moving to another area within the stadium, you should be able to do so.

It’s the clubs and the FFA who should be thankful for our attendance, not the other way around.

Make it cheaper and less restrictive of movement.

Let’s just concentrate on creating an audience, rather than alienating the people we have attracted by trying to bleed them for every penny and forcing people into purchasing reserved seats; restricting their choice of movement and making it hard for these same people to bring friends to the games on a casual basis.

It’s the people who come week in week out that are the best avenue of promotion, via word of mouth and encouraging people to join them at the football.

Reserved seating does not allow this to happen, full stop.

Wake up FFA. Take control of the situation, instead of being pushed around by the stadium operators, and concentrate on getting people through the gate.

I’ve supported our national league and A-league week in week out for three decades.

There is nothing wrong with the product. The football is a good standard, and very entertaining.

We’ve had better crowds in the recent past, but we make it too hard. Concentrate on the supporters. Without them this league will die too.
