For a bloke cynics once reckoned would walk from the Brisbane Roar, captain Craig Moore sure sounded like someone not leaving the A-League club any time soon on Tuesday.
Despite his veteran status at 33, Moore said he could continue playing for up to four years and did not rule out taking up a Roar coaching role.
Contrary to recent speculation, Moore said he had no problem with new Roar mentor Ange Postecoglou and had already spoken to him about earning his coaching stripes.
“I spoke with the boss when he came in, as far as (coaching) badges, you need to get that,” he said.
“Because whether you do decide to do that in the future or not, you are better off having them.
“There is maybe a course I will do in July.”
Moore returns from suspension in a must-win clash with Newcastle on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium.
The Roar – on equal bottom spot – are trying to get back into the top six mix by avoiding a club record fifth straight loss.
But Moore – off contract at season’s end – was also thinking about long term plans on Tuesday.
“If I feel good at the end of the season then I would love to go again,” he said.
“The way I am feeling now I don’t see any reason why I can’t continue for another two, three, four seasons.”
“My intention is to play a little bit longer.”
Postecoglou has only officially held the Roar reins for one match – Sunday’s tight 2-1 away loss to Sydney FC.
Moore said any doubts about the players’ commitment to the new coach should have been erased by their gutsy performance against the league leaders.
“The work rate and effort we put in was what the new coach wanted to see and he got that in abundance,” Moore said.
“We were all disappointed that we came away with nothing on the weekend but there were enough positive signs there to show that everything is going to be OK this season.”
Moore said the introduction of a new coach had given the side “a lift”.
“Everyone has to go out there and prove themselves, and I don’t think that is a bad thing,” he said.
“At the end of the day, whether it (the coaching change) suits me or not, he is my coach – he is the boss now.
“But a lot of things have been said that have not been said by myself nor the gaffer, there’s no problems whatsoever.
“His aim is I am sure exactly the same as mine and that is to go out and win things and be successful.
“It’s not all doom and gloom.”
Meanwhile, Moore said he would soon sit down with Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek and discuss what he could do to stay in contention for a World Cup spot.
He has been told by Verbeek that he needs to keep playing until May to remain in the 2010 plans.
Moore’s options include an overseas loan deal or a short-term Asian Champions League stint with Adelaide United or Melbourne Victory.

Coming off contract at the end of the season, looking for a few extra games, how about a permanent move to Melbourne instead of a loan. Could fit in well and replace Musket’s likely retirement. As a Melbourne fan, one can dream.
Moore is vital to the Roar and they really need to focus on keeping him and building a team around him. For a guy who has equalled, if not surpassed the, success Muskat has seen; its dissapointing the club and fans dont seem to have the same association and affection with Moore as those in Melbourne do with Muskat. If Queensland can keep their captain a season or two and try and emulate the the marketing the Victory has performed, it might go a long way to bringing the fans back to Suncorp. At his best, I’d still rate Moore as our best centre back we currently have.
