What about making Katich the deputy in tests? Wouldn’t that be less disruptive?

Also promote Clarke up the batting order, to 2 down, so that gives him more batting responsibility?

Ponting is a great batsman – second only Bradman.

Ponting is a great one day skipper – the best we have had.

Ponting fails miserably as a test captain. He tries to captain a test match as he does one day cricket. Pivotal moments in test matches are not apparent to him. Ponting lost the unlosable in the last Ashes series.

The mutual admiration society of Hilditch, Nielsen and Ponting is doing Cricket in Australia a disservice. Hilditch and Neilsen should go and Ponting stay on as the wonderful batsman that he is.

Simon Katich should be our next skipper, Steve Waugh the Chairman of Selectors and forget about the coach
