To use Oikee's favourite expression, they favour giraffes who can run all day. There are plenty of blokes who will be suited to playing rugby - if they can find their calling early enough and if they have grown up playing both games - all the better. AndyS

The choice isn't necessarily one of Union over AFL, it is more likely to be the choice between professional Union versus never going further than the VFL. Go ask Roger Gould. Paul Hauff, Laurie Daly or Greg Brentnall about their Australian Rules acheivements before they chose the union and league paths. Seriously I think Victorian rugby has looked foolish enough over the last few months without these sort of statements. Mr Gray leave the rugby to the rugby people.
