An overload of world rugby this weekend
In a monster weekend of rugby starting on Friday night, there will be 18 international played. Below is the full list of the games. Of the top twenty rated teams, only Russia will not be involved.
The home team is listed first:
Italy A v Romania
Georgia A v Ukraine
Ireland A v Tonga
Wales v Samoa
France v South Africa
Moldova v Czech Republic
Austria v Norway
Monaco v Cyprus
Georgia v Argentina Jaguars
Egypt v Libya
Europe v French Barbarians
England v Argentina
Scotland v Fiji
Italy v New Zealand
Tunisia v Namibia
Uruguay v USA
Ireland v Australia
Japan v Canada
Some of the games are RWC2011 qualifiers, whilst the others are tour matches or preliminary games for the European Nations Cup, first division.
It is also of interest that at least twelve of the games will be shown live on TV or the internet. This is probably the highest standard weekend ever of rugby outside a World Cup.

![In just about any rugby conversation you come across these days, the talk turns to kicking, particularly kicking for goal. “There are too many penalties!” the naysayers argue.
Metronome-boots like Dan Carter and Morne Steyne are apparently spoiling the spectacle. After all, we opine, rugby was meant to be a running game.

Good to see the Northern Hemisphere is useful for something.

Look its great that this much rugby is being played, i did notice that a bunch of games are playing at the same time as the NZ Italy game.
The question I have is why can’t we watch replay games on the internet if we miss the match?
As a fan, and I am sure that many other fans are the same, I have been known to have a few beers and boisterously view my opinion of proceedings but it can get a bit blurry towards the end – so I like to watch the replays.
But if the games are streaming online – or played at the same time as each other (nullifying the recording option), where can we go at our own leisure and get to watch these games as replays?
Surely if rugby want to continue its growth it needs to make the game available to those that want to watch it?!!

Who cares. Everyone’s playing rubbish except France.
pothale said | November 15th 2009 @ 3:17am | Report comment
Not everyone, OJ.
Out of the limelight somewhat but I thought the Leicester v SA was an outstanding match of commitment, energy and a powerbuster of a display from the Tigers to totally shred the Bok front row and the team.
The Ireland v Tonga match was full of running and passing and ran up ten tries between the two.
And, as you say, the French were outstanding last night.
Let’s see how the next lot of games go.

France 20 13 Africa de Sud
Wales 17 13 Samoa
Ireland A 48 19 Tonga
That’ll do me so far.

Samoa must have played well.
Klestical said | November 14th 2009 @ 10:43am | Report comment
samoa played well considering they only got together 3 days before. wales had a ton of opportunities, but so did samoa. once they get confidence they shift up another level. a poor halfback pass on the welsh tryline was the only thing that stopped them
pothale said | November 14th 2009 @ 11:32am | Report comment
true. Wales were lucky. Samoa seem to be a bit of a bogey team for them.

um Kimble you said there are games to be shown on the internet…what site are you using. the only good site i know is myp2p
Harry Kimble said | November 14th 2009 @ 6:44pm | Report comment
A couple of sites that show the Rugby on the internet are for Georgia games at 1tv.ge , Italian games on raisport.rai.it , general games are found on justin.tv and several national Rugby unions show the games live on their websites or replays later.

Japan thumped Canada 46-8 to record its best ever win over its oldest international rival.
Shahsan said | November 15th 2009 @ 6:08pm | Report comment
Didnt know Canada was Japan’s oldest rival. Stunning result though. Any other details?
ohtani's jacket said | November 15th 2009 @ 9:30pm | Report comment
They were Japan’s first ever Test opponent back in 1930, though they were named British Columbia for that fixture. Two years later, Canada toured Japan as “Canada.”
Japan ran in six tries today. Twice they took the corner lineout instead of a shot at goal. The first time they scored from a rolling maul. The second time the throw was crooked, but they won a tighthead and scored. Plenty of good defence from the Japanese side. Most of their other tries were from strong tackling and turnover ball. The kind of stuff I wish the All Blacks still did

I thought England vs Argentina was one of the worst matches ever played. Devoid of anything except rubbish rugby.

can anyone give me a run-down of how the other internationals went?
i hear that georgia beat ireland A..
USA beat Uruguay
ohtani's jacket said | November 21st 2009 @ 6:39pm | Report comment
Japan beat Canada 27-6 in the second Test to move up to 13th in the IRB rankings. 13th is their best ever spot and they’re certainly progressing under Kirwan.

Anyone else more keen on watching the so called “minnows” than some of the crap dished out by the top-tier teams like the wallabies at the moment?
pity that Rugby (like all sports) is driven by $$. sometimes the most fluent rugby, biggest tackles, attacking tactics, and end-to-end movements are not at the so-called top end, because those teams are far too “conservative/defensive” to chance their arm and play more “risky” rugby.
bring on RWC in Japan 2019. Hopefully by then there will be more parity in terms of coaching and general governance support for the second-tier nations to reach the finals… Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Japan, Namibia, Ireland, scotland, wales (hehehe)

Tong
It is amazing how the ‘minnow’ nations can actually provide some very entertaining Rugby. Not enough exposure to be honest. If you want to see some rather entertaining ‘minnow’ Rugby try the GermanrugbyTV channel on Youtube.
