Countries with low populations are always going to struggle at test cricket. there is luck involved in cricket but the longer the game goes this luck even out. The beauty of test cricket is that it is a ‘test’ and the best team will win.

Bangladesh has the population so they should continue to improve. As long as the country stays out of Busted A status. Afghanistan has a big enough population. When they move into test cricket though, they are going to have bigger problems than Pakistan.

This means we can look forward to the first blogger whinging that all Afghanistan’s problems are all caused by the ICC.

The USA when they start playing tests will definitely be able to be competitive with the West Indies, New Zealand and Zimbabwe. Ireland with a population of 6 million will also be able to win against those teams as well.

You got the Chappell bit right,Drewster. But seriously,Test Cricket will become redundant if it is not made more accessible. Day/Night Tests are an absolute must. No more sitting on your hands. Sydney and Melbourne, and to a lesser degree Adelaide, have a tradition and a fairly fixed timeslot. But this may not always be so. I know CA is experimenting with a ball. But I maintain you can play with the red ball from 2 to 6 and the white ball thereafter. Why do we need a pink ball. The red and white have been in use for years.
