Cronulla backrower Paul Gallen has found himself in hot water after the Test star was allegedly caught urinating in a public place during a police blitz in Sydney late Friday night.
Gallen, who is currently on leave from the NRL club after returning from Australia’s victorious Four Nations campaign last month, was issued with a fine after being apprehended by police at Sydney’s King Street Wharf.
Sharks chief executive Richard Fisk confirmed Gallen’s involvement in an incident, which continues a troubled year for the code off the field.
“Paul’s currently on leave after the Kangaroos tour but he had the courtesy ring me this morning to advise me of his involvement in an incident last night,” Fisk said on Saturday.
“He will meet with the club next week were we will seek to clarify aspects of the incident.”
Gallen is not due to return to training until January 11.
The NSW and Australian forward quit the Cronulla captaincy earlier this year in the aftermath of the NRL’s decision to fine him $10,000 for making racial comments to St George Illawarra forward Mickey Paea.
The police blitz, which covered Australia and New Zealand, resulted in 516 charges being laid against 333 people across NSW on Friday night.

I can’t understand how this bloke gets picked week after week for his club, let alone any rep teams available. He is good for a fight and not much else, except maybe a brain explosion, possibly causing a fight.
I would love for selectors to have to justify decisions some times. I would love to read why they pick certain individuals and what they think the individual brings to their team. The truth rather than the oft used, worn out bollocks they trot out for media. IF they tell the truth, they have no reason to pick this bloke time after time.

a good test case to see just how effective this new off-field tribunal is, I’d reckon….
