Syd Olympic as a club is not who they used to be
they died when the nsl died . We all need to forget the
past and move on we all need to support the a-league for
the good of the game here in Australia

The formation of a taskforce to establish a new league commenced in October 2003 and the A-League was born four months later (that would be early 2004). Euro 2004 was held in June/July of that year, ie: after the formation of the A-League’s framework. What exact relevance this has to Giannakopoulos as a potential A-League target is still a mystery.
There is no going back to ethnic based clubs at the highest level of Australian football, despite the protestations of the few harping back to the bad old days and of the zealots at SBS.

Hellas won the 2004 European Championships. This took place before the birth of the A League. Therefore the A League does not recognise the Hellas win as the FFA / A League do not acknowledge football history prior to 2005.
