The man, the myth, the dribble! Mundine talks an impressive game, but his list of opponents is far from impressive, and once again it is clear that Mundine and his crew are in complete control of the Australian boxing establishment.
A week out from his fight with Medley, he cannot make the weight and then has the audacity to sit there and make the comment ‘I’m Like Pacquiao!’
No, Anthony you are nothing like Pacquiao.
He is the pound-for-pound king and a peoples’ champion who embraces his fans, whilst you spit in the faces of the Australian public and media most of the time.
Pacquiao has won seven world titles in seven different weight divisions and has fought and conquered some of boxing’s biggest names in De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto, amongst a host of other top shelf fighters (Morales, Marguez, Barrerra), and will most likely go up against Mayweather some time soon.
To sit there and say you are the best is an absolute joke.
The best fighters like Pacquiao and now Danny Green fight anyone, anywhere on any given day, and champions like Pavlik and Sturm do not duck or dodge fighters.
They defend their titles against the top contenders.
For years Mundine has talked up big name fights and rants on about being the greatest Australian sportsman, but ends up fighting the winner of the Contender!
What a joke.
The time for talk is over. Either step up and fight the best or admit that you and your management have for years handpicked your opponents in an effort to make yourself look like a contender when so far all you are is a pretender.

The trash talk is all part of the act, and the marketing. He’ll admit it, and anyone with half a brain can see it.
He has done a brilliant job of talking himself up and getting attention. He knows most Aussies want to see him get his block knocked off, but he doesn’t care. He’s too bust making money and building up to the next title fight.
He sh!ts me tooo most of the time, but you goota give him some respect for playing the game so well. Don King eat your heart out.

Surely you jest! Green is nothing like the ‘best fighters’. Mundine makes a load of money because he annoys people like you.

Wow.. Look at the compliments for Green.. He was completely schooled by Mundine, he wasn’t even in the same state let alone the same ball park. Yet he beats an old champion past his best and is now calling out an even older fighter and suddenly he is something special?
I just don’t get it..

Mundine won on points. To say Mundine schooled Green is a massive over statement.
Watch Jones devour Lacy prior to Green Fight. Lacy is a quality fighter with huge punching power still at the peak of his game.
Green shocked the boxing world when he won. Who has Mundine shocked! His only noted win is against Green and Mundine waited for Green for a long time and took him on only after Green cooked his brain in the Perth fight which he thought he lost.

More excuses for Greens loss to Mundine i note. Green wasn’t even close to Mundine in that fight, he was well and truly schooled which ever way you look at it.

Mundine won 118-113 which is a decisive points victory. I do not refute that but saying he was not in the same state is pushing it.
Anyone that thinks Mundine is a top quality boxer clearly knows little about the sport. Mundine needs to go to the States and fight a stack of top ranked boxers and have a crack at Pavlik. How many times has Mundine fought in the USA? Not once to my memory.
Geale had the better of Mundine and won on re-count and Mundine will not fight him again. Ducking, dodging, dribbling! Mundine is good in the D department. he is also rated a D in the eyes of the international boxing community until he fights and wins a world title.

He fought in America early on i think. Hopefully he gets a fight with Pavlik, the money for both fighters would be to fight out here as he did with Kessler.

Mundine fought Kevin Pompey in Cananda but has never fought in USA.
Pavlik will not come here – Pavlik has never fought outside of the USA and will never need to.
He is the champion and the challengers come to him. He gets big pay days in the USA.
Pavlik would have no idea who Mundine is.
If Mundine wants a shot then he needs to go the USA and fight on some undercards.
Pavlik is 28 years old, at the peak of his career and takes 2 fights these days:
Mandatory Title Defenses: and
Big name pay day fights.
Mundine provides neither.
In the USA Mundine is a no-one. No one has any idea who he is.

Well, Im not a fan of either boxer, but remember that Green was wasted by fighting Mundane at a much lighter weight, but didnt pull out. Mundine pulled out of the original fight with Medley because he couldnt drop the weight, or didnt want to fight at that weight.
At the end of the day, Mundine has wasted his exceptional boxing talent by fighting also-rans. Yes, he has fought rated boxeres in Ottke and Kessler, but thats about it. Mundine has fantastic speed and I would have loved to see him suceed at the world stage. But we will never know how good he is/was because he wants to be the big fish in a small pond.

I agree. It’s a shame really. It would have been great to see him really work hard and take on progressively more serious fighters. But instead it’s nobodies all the way until the odd decent opponent and we all know that he has usually lost those bouts. If he’d developed better by fighting more difficult opponents along the way instead of wanting to look a hero in the short term he could have become a much better fighter.

Green was wasted because he was fighting Mundine at the same weight he had been fighting at most of his career at that time and at a weight that from memory i think he won,or fought for, an interim word title (Marcus Beyer)?
I don’t get that either. Sounds like excuses to me.

True, but he droppped a heap of weight nontheless, and Im just making a point, not an excuse, cos Mundine dserved to win that fight.

Light Heavy to Super Middle isn’t much, especially not when that is the weight division fought at for most of his career to that point. It’s a definate excuse.

Fair enough mate, though he was at his lightest for three years to fight Mundine. Do you think if Mundine fight hadnt come along he would have still foght at Super Middle, or went to Light heavy sooner?
