A windy and wet Sunday evening at Belmore Sports Ground was rectified with an electrifying atmosphere created by a large crowd who saw a tremendous game, with Sydney Olympic beating Sutherland 2-0.

There was a healthy crowd on hand to watch this gam, with the Olympic faithful looking very confident that in the next home game versus Sydney United on Saturday night, the crowd will double and be close to the 5,000 mark.

Olympic opened the scoring in the 65th minute, with a well taken volley from Mathew Mayora, who opened his account for the 2010 campaign.

More pressure on the Sutherland goal left Mathew Denman, in goals for Sutherland, under much pressure with the constant attacking play from Olympic – with Triantis and Makrys running the play in the centre of the park.

Hard work from Triantis lead to the sealer with a bomb goal from Triantis with five minutes to go.

It was a great opening game to the season, with many fans returning to Olympic after many years pledging their support to the club and helping Olympic’s push for the A2-League admission.
