Former Socceroo Joel Griffiths scored for Chinese club Beijing Guoan to help his side defeat Kawasaki Frontale 3-1 in the Asian Champions League on Tuesday.
Substitute Wang Changqing scored twice in the second half as Beijing Guoan, looking to qualify for the knockout stage for the first time, improved to 2-0 in Group E.
Wang, who went on at the start of the second half, gave Beijing a 2-1 lead in the 65th minute and put the game out of reach with his second four minutes from time.
Griffiths, who won the A-League Golden Boot award in 2008 playing for the Newcastle United Jets, scored in the 36th minute to give Beijing a 1-0 lead but Kosuke Kikuchi levelled for Kawasaki just four minutes later.
Kawasaki lost its first match 2-0 away to Seongnam Ilhwa.

Should Griffiths be considered for the World Cup? We need goal scorers.

IMO no, but a pity he wasnt considered for the Indo game. his brother also. he sits somewhere between HAL and Socceroo – just as Archie does (and Burns J, Brosque etc).
why wasnt he put in the recent game? maybe its his unpredictable and fiery outbursts that dont sit well with our very Pim and proper coach, or that he isnt the type of holding striker we seem to keep playing. In all honesty i think a fit kewell is a better option, as is Kennedy, and players like Leckie, Kruse and Williams are younger and probably more likely to play in the next round (post 2011) than Joel.
leckie keeps scoring and kennedy is also knocking them in in the JLeague.
