Joe Pietersen scored 13 points and Springboks centre Jaque Fourie grabbed his third try for his new team as the Stormers beat the Cheetahs 21-8 in an all-South African match in the Super 14.
Pietersen kicked two early penalties and converted his own try on Saturday to help the Stormers to a third successive win and back up to second in the standings.
The Cheetahs had hit back with Meyer Bosman’s try, and Naas Olivier’s 49th minute drop goal brought the visitors to within five at 13-8.
Pietersen didn’t appear for the second half because of injury, but Fourie dived on a loose pass from Schalk Burger to re-establish the home team’s dominance.
Flyhalf Willem de Waal then sealed victory with his 61st-minute penalty.

A good game in front of 43 700 spectators. The Tahs can only dream of this kind of support.
