Origin: Fired-up NSW won’t stop Queensland

New South Wales will go into probably their most important State of Origin series since 1985 by trying to avoid losing their fifth straight Origin series.
The NSW selectors will have a hard time trying to pick a team that could end four years of Queensland domination.
Players like Gallen, Bird, Pearce and Kimmorley would probably be in the selectors eyes between now and the start of Origin I.
But Queensland will still have an advantage, thanks to players such as Prince, Smith, Slater and Lockyer.
The pressure on NSW coach Craig Bellamy to bring home a series victory for NSW is massive.
If NSW doesn’t win this year, then the calls for Phil ‘Gus’ Gould to return to be the NSW coach will grow louder and louder. And it’s something Gould can’t ignore.
I think Queensland will win the series, however look out for a very fired up NSW team in Game 1 of the 2010 series.

I don’t think we can win 5 series in a row. Too much. Plus we have several players injured now, including Thursto out for the season… maybe. Prince is out at the moment as well.
Cronk coming in is OK, as he has a great combination with the Storm players already, so I would probably pick him above Prince anyway. Plus he can defend a lot better than Prince.
Missing Dallas the tackling machine, but Nate Myles is going quite well this year at the Rooters, so he could fill that tackling role.
Thaiday was outstanding on Friday night in a flailing Broncs team.
I honestly think this is one year too many for Lockyer.
Inglis is a bit out of kilter, however the cries will come thick and fast that he is a big game player etc. I would rather he was a consistent player.
It will be very interesting to see who NSW pick. I think they turned a corner in the last game going with a few hot young players, however it remains to be seen if they keep that trend up or revert back to safety and dependable players who have “played there before and know what to expect”, even though they have played there before and lost for 4 years in a row. Still there have been tight games in those 4 years, so it really could have been different. Last year, NSW were their own worst enemy, gifting QLD some easy tries.

QLD wont be missing anything by playing Cronk. He has been the most unlucky player having JT, and rightly so keeping him out. I’ve felt very sorry for Cronk for years but now he may get a go. He is a talented player with a big ticker, give him a Maroon Jersy – he won’t let us down.

Why bother? The League does not use the interstate series as a guide to the national team any more. Queensland has teams in the NRL.
I get fed up with all the talk about State of Origin for months before and after the games and the series is an over rated interruption to the NRL to boost Channel 9′s coffers. I do not bother watching it.

I for one cannot wait for Origin this year, I don’t care who the Blues pick, as long as Justin Poore and Ben Creagh are there. I know the Qlders will not have forgotten what Poore did to Price. As for Ben “Hit & Run” Creagh, he won’t be able to hide behind his buddies for the full 80 minutes. It can’t come soon enough.

Was Poore the one who actually decked Price, or the one who came in from behind that they originally thought was the culprit but wasn’t?
The end of game 3 was a disgrace – the Qlders like Thurston and that idiot centre Hodges should have been banned for bringing the gane into disrepute. How nothing got done about that I’ll never know.
You’re so tough though, Stormin Red, making threats through your keyboard. I’ll bet those Blues players are packing it.

Poore was the one who picked Price up by the shirt and dropped him while he was unconcious on the ground. I don’t care who you are playing against, you don’t touch a guy who is out cold. White decked him in a face to face confontation, nothing against him but what Poore did was wrong.

Poore was the one that picked up Price by the back of his jersey when he was knocked out on the ground then dropped him again.

The way he tells it he didn’t realise Price was out cold and he panicked when he realised it and dropped him.
We’ll never know the truth.
If Price has forgiven him though, then the rest of you should.
