“Beale! He has a man on the inside but he doesn’t give it. Now he gives it. TRY TO AUSTRALIA! No, he’s been pulled down from behind meters out!” That’s what Fox Sports Greg Clarke said as Beale broke the Springbok defence and sent the pass to Elsom, who was stopped just short.
Paints a picture of the Wallabies night, really.
Many people have said that the Wallabies tripped over their own shoelaces and fell short, an observation, I believe, is wrong. They did not lose the match, they were beaten.
If the Wallabies are ever to be at the same level of the current day All Blacks and Springboks, they need to admit that they pretty much suck.
Elsom is not an international quality player, let alone captain; Matt “where is he?” Giteau has been an absent figure for at least eighteen months; Mumm needs to learn to become dad if he is ever gonna be “mongrel” enough to play the likes of the Boks and All Black’s and Cooper needs to do some work on the tackling bag.
Richard Brown, why is he there? Seriously why?
Did you know that if Robbie Deans loses this game, and the following Sydney Test, his Wallaby career stands at 50 percent. Maybe he is not the all powerful rugby guru that many suspected he was. After all, he had a lot of the best players of our generation in his Crusaders side that won those Super Rugby tournaments.
Who wouldn’t look like an amazing coach?
The Wallabies beat the Boks in Brisbane. That is the only success they have had this year in the Tri Nations, as in last year’s. Hardly something to be proud of, seeing South Africans hate Suncorp.
The Bulls, Stormers and Sharks all lose there. (I should know, I’m there and disappointed each time.)
It is to be noted that the Wallabies have a few players to come back from injury, but are these guys much better? Was the Wallabies season last season a noteworthy one with those guys in the side?
What about the opposition for this weekend?
The Boks are feeling much better after ending their four game losing streak and have taken off some of the heat on the older players and the coaching staff.
They have also retained the starting side from last week, with the only change being Dannie Roussow promoted to the starting side ahead of Flip Van Der Merwe.
The Wallabies don’t have the forwards nor the backs to match it with a more confident Boks side. On paper, the Boks are stronger and you would be hard-pressed to find a single position in which the Wallabies have the better player.
I would bet my house on the Boks tightening up the defence and choking the Wallabies like the All Blacks on the eve of a quarter final.
Boks by plenty.

Well said Bokkie elements of truth that us Aussies have trouble swallowing. The truth of the matter is hard for one-eyed people to see or understand. I wish you weren’t so right. We have a long hard road to ride before we can look to being the force we once were.

The bulls and stormers dominated the super 14 last year. Its is nothing to go by at all…. So your point about Genia doesnt exactly mean much. Besides he was out played on sunday.
The boks have the better line out, sharp or no sharp and bekker is just going to make that more of the same.
Yep, you r right we have not yet seen Brussow but I bet a million he will be an amazing asset again.

Well I hope you correct Bokkie. It’s this standard Saffa Arrogance or actual confidence? I myself, am not that confident.
Also I currently would put Shape way ahead of Victor (better around the park, he went off injured, Victor badly needs a break, I think he should be benched come the WC, Andries Bekker would be my first choice.)
Pocock way ahead of Spies (he does nothing all day too, how is he still in the team, I actually think Richard Brown tries harder) and Quade may have dogy defence, but at least he attacks the line, Morne is northing more than a link man, with a good boot. Also Habana needs a break too, both the two other Aussies wings have more energy, Drew Mitchell and O’Conner.
So here are my man for man ratings, it’s dead even, with no advantage, to either team.
I can’t predict a winner?
Steyn vs Kurtley no advantage
JP vs O’Conner no advantage
Jacque Fourie vs ACC advantage Boks
De Villiers vs Giteau advantage Boks
Habana vs Mitchell advantage Aus
Cooper vs Morne advantage Aus
Genia vs The Mullet advantage Boks
Spies vs Brown (both shyte) no advantage
Schalk vs Pocock Advantage Aus
Juan vs Rocky Advantage Boks
Sharpe vs Victor Advantage Aus
Danie vs Mummies Boy Advantage Boks
James Slipper Vs Guthro Advantage Boks
Stephen Moore vs Smit Advantage Aus
Ben Robinson vs Jannis Du Plessis Advantage Aus

Francois Steyn is bettter I think
JP has proven himself… Has O’connor? I dont think he has, although I think he can b a future superstar of the game
Habana worse than Mitchell? Wow big call, on current form possibly but as far as the bettr quality player well….
Morne Steyn is a better defender than cooper and has a much much bigger boot. i guess it depends on the style, i dnt think cooper would make the boks side, but morne steyn wouldnt make the wallabies either.
I am with you on spiece, I think Kankowski is better but he is still better than brown
Burger is not the fetcher that Pocock is but he is an amazing player
Sharpe better than rocky? ignorance? Frustration? I dont know how anyone could arrive at that conclusion
John Smith has not been great no, bu Moore is not better than Du Plessis, so I am not too concernd
benn robbinson is better than Jannie, who I am not a big fan of.

You guys underestimate Rocky Elsom. World Class.
Bokkie I dig the Boks as much as the next Bok supporter, but we played some terrible rugby this year. I think it was overconfidence at first, Clown coach and injuries. Who knows. We need to be objective and admit that we played some average rugby on our away leg. The good thing is we know we can be way better. Australia lacks confidence.

Mate, you may be able to have a chuckle and beat your chest again on Sunday. But the opposite to that is looking an absolute goose and having as much credibility as the Paki cricket team.
Oh, and you may be living in a tent as well!!

Is that not always the case? Been a bad tri nations for me as far as my pick go because I do have a tendancy to think more with my heart than my head, but where the sense lies is that i see the Sprinboks compete with the All Blacks and beat the Wallabies and when the Wallabies play the All Blacks… Well we have all knowen the result before the match for the last 3 years at least

Bokke, couldn’t help but notice you made a similar article in the week leading up to the Brisbane test. I think your just going to jinx your team. So basically if the springboks lose this saturday it will be your fault

If they lose, I’ll never write another article predicting a boks win before a Wallaby test. =P
Been a shocking season for me (tri nations anyway, I ripped it up in the super 14 and a comp I have going with my friends. We make picks on every game that involves a tri nations or six nations side as well as argentina. Been going since 2007 after the wc, and finishes next wc)
I felt nervouse just b4 the ab’s game but not the wallabies, specialy not ouside of australia.

Unfortunately Bokkie is right, the Boks and the ABs are in a different level of play to the Wallabies.
To succeed the Wallabies need to put aside this ‘private school only’ bull shit and actually scout for players!
YES their players are good and obviously have skill (otherwise they wouldnt be there) but they ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!
Australia does not have enough wins against the other two teams to consider themselves a threat in this comp.
And honestly, the boks and ABs dont consider them one.
Something needs to change.
