A short preview of a long NBL season ahead

With the rounding up of the winter codes, we turn our attention to the summer competitions of sport. Here’s a look at what’s happening in the basketball (NBL), which has returned after a much-needed revamp.
The nine team competition, which begins on October 15th, will be shown free-to-air around the nation on ONE HD and Ten.
Basketball fans should check their local clubs for information of home games and ticket prices. Fans in Wollongong can come check out the Hawks take on Gold Coast, while fans in Melbourne will be treated to a classic city rivalry as they take on the Sydney Kings.
Townsville will play host to far north rivals Cairns, while Sydneysiders will see the Kings back up against Melbourne and play hosts to the New Zealand Breakers, who are looking to become genuine title contenders.
Finally, fans in Adelaide will see the 36ers take on the Perth Wildcats as MVP Winner and runner up will face off in the first match of the season (Kevin Lisch from Perth and Adam Ballinger from Adelaide, respectively). All these matches will be between the 15th and 17th of October, and live on Ten and ONE HD.

Being from Melbourne, it’s probably un-melburnian to not give the NBL a try =]

This game deserves to have it’s own tab/section on the Roar.
It was not that long ago the sport was really massive in Australia.
It is too good a game to be kept down.

The NBL should bring back the Geelong Supercats, they are cleaning up in the SEABL.
