The New South Wales Waratahs will look to keep their season alive against the mean and newly green Highlanders tonight at 7:40pm, in what shapes as a finals-come-early clash for both teams. Join us for live scores and blog of the Round 17 Waratahs vs Highlanders.

With lights out for the loser, it’s all to play for tonight for seventh vs eighth on the table.

The Waratahs are back from tough South African away games, with bonus point defeats to their (partial) credit but a real sense of desperation about them.

The Highlanders have fallen from their top-six position after home game losses to the Lions and the Western Force despite leading the latter for large parts of the game.

The Waratahs welcome back Wycliff Paul and skipper Phil Waugh, as well as Lachie Turner and prop Benn Robinson, who were able to prove their fitness late on the eve of the match.

There are five new faces in the Highlanders starting team, the most prominent being Aaron Smith who comes in for the benched Jimmy Cowan.
