Dual international Mat Rogers has confirmed he is coming out of retirement to play the remainder of the NRL season with Gold Coast.

Rogers confirmed speculation the Titans had registered his playing contract with the NRL just days before the June 30 deadline.

The 35-year-old, who retired at the end of last season, said he badly wanted to help the struggling side, which is languishing at the foot of the competition ladder.

“Why? I love the team and I hate seeing them hurting and the fans hurting I know they’re better than that and I want to help,” Rogers, a veteran of 199 NRL games, said via his Twitter account.

“It’s not about me being a saviour or any of that rubbish, some of my best mates are there and as a huge Titan fan, they asked and I obliged.

“It will be just the remainder of this season.”

Rogers could return for the Titans as soon as their clash with the Warriors in Auckland on Friday week.
