The biggest match on the NRL agenda ended in déjà vu for the Maroons. A dominant performance from the side who gained their sixth consecutive Origin series win and a great send off for the best player in the world, Darren Lockyer.

But don’t write-off New South Wales.

They did all they could, but the force of Queensland was too much in an Origin series to remember.

ORIGIN III – HOW IT HAPPENED
00 – First penalty, San Thaiday offside off a Cam Smith kick.

56 – Thaiday tackles Minichiello in goal for drop out.

13 – Morris one-on-one strip on Thaiday.

27 – Bird offloads to Morris who makes a line break down the left sideline then runs into a shoulder charge from Slater, knocking the ball free.

08 – Cam Smith puts in a short grubber kick for Slater but is cut off by a Mannah NSW dropout.

11 – Inglis TRY. Lockyer out of dummy-half gives off an inside ball to Slater who bumps out of a tackle, gives it off to Scott, who gives onto Thurston, who puts in a grubber kick for Inglis, who does well to collect the ball and uses great acrobatics to score.

15 – Thurston GOAL. Thurston curls straight over the black dot from the sideline.

58 – Thurston puts in a kick into the in goal area and Minichiello is collected by a determined Queensland chase.

00 – Pearce boots the ball out on the full in attempt of a 40/20.

23 – Slater gets a rushed pass for Thurston and kicks it to Morris who is taken back in goal.

14 – Ennis walks up the tunnel (presumed coughing up blood).

41 – Thaiday TRY. Cam Smith passes to Slater who gives a short ball through to Thaiday bamboozling the Blues defence.

06 – Thurston GOAL. An easy strike he gets them 10 times out of 10.

30 – Lockyer steps through some lazy Blues defence and runs about 50m before finally being run down by Morris.

06 – Smith TRY. Smart work by Cam diving to the side from dummy-half away from Inglis, even though Blues players complain that he was obstructed by Inglis

43 – Thurston GOAL. Another easy kick for JT who made no mistake of it.

21 – Yow Yeh TRY. Lockyer puts in a kick straight to Jarryd Hayne who uses his feet to stop the ball. The roll goes straight into the feet of an incoming Yow Yeh who scores.

39 – Thurston GOAL. A very good curving kick giving the Maroons the extra two points.

45 – Minichiello TRY. Mal Meninga will forget the 24 points piled on by his side because they just wrapped a gift for NSW. A terrible kick from Soward ends in the hands of Lockyer who loses it, then Yow Yeh poorly taps it back to Slater who loses it under his legs, picked up by Lewis who passes it to Minichiello for a try.

12 – Soward GOAL. An easy kick from virtually straight in front of the sticks no way he would of missed it

12 – Uate TRY. NSW are back now with a great try due to very lazy defence from Queensland not getting cover defence and through the hands to Uate who steps past Slater and scores.

HALF-TIME: QLD 24-10 NSW

37 – Keith Galloway hits Hodges, dislodging the ball inside Queensland territory.

37 – Gidley and Thaiday push and shove after Yow Yeh catches it in goal for 20m restart.

48- Gallen makes a line break and then gives his side a penalty in try-scoring range.

56 – Soward a kick to Lockyer who is taken in goal by Minichiello.

58 – Extremely bad news for Cowboys supporters Thurston has done some horrible damage to his leg. Not sure what exactly happened but it looked horrific on the replays. But it will be 99% it will be for the season.

04 – Watmough makes a break and is tackled by Slater on the last tackle handover.

43 – Crowd Attendance of 52, 498 great crowd for a big decider.

02 – Slater TRY. Well you can almost say game over. A set play pulled off, Lockyer to Thaiday in-board to Slater, try time.

09 – Smith GOAL. With no Thurston its always good to have a back-up full-time kicker.

09 – Late tackle on Lockyer by Pearce pulls a penalty 5 metres from the NSW line.

36 – Inglis TRY. Game over. Six straight for Queensland, another great rehearsed play, Cronk giving it off to the decoy Inglis who muscles his way over for a double.

36 – Short kick pays off, regather from Uate who makes it to the 20.

02 – Hayne TRY. Cam Smith in trouble for using his knees to deny Hayne and now they’ve awarded an eight-point try which Soward easily converts. Smith on report.

05 – Off the kick off a pass goes straight to Boyd.

09 -Next play Hannant bustles over but NO TRY called so penalty NSW.

39 – Pearce long ball to Hayne who makes a large break, great chase by Yow Yeh, inside ball to Morris who tries to turn Boyd inside-out fails and is tackled.

43 – Bird TRY – No one was back in defence and Bird went staright pass with his VIP invitation.

12 – Soward GOAL. Too easy.
