Liverpool won 2-0 at Arsenal for the first time since 2000 in the English Premier League on Saturday.

After Arsenal’s Emmanuel Frimpong was sent off with 20 minutes to go, Aaron Ramsey inadvertently deflected in Liverpool’s opener and Luis Suarez netted the second in stoppage time.

In the northeast derby, Ryan Taylor’s second-half free kick gave Newcastle a 1-0 win over Sunderland.

Also, Alex McLeish’s first home game as Aston Villa manager ended in a 3-1 victory over Blackburn, and newcomers Queens Park Rangers marked their first match since being bought by Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes by winning 1-0 at Everton.

Swansea claimed their first Premier League point in a scoreless draw with Wigan.
