Finals football begins early this week, as a resurgent Bulldogs host the sinking Knights, who a striving to find a way to win and cling onto eighth position. A loss for either side would be catastrophic. We’ll have live score updates from the commencement of the match at 5.30pm (AEST).

A fortnight ago the Newcastle Knights danced around the Raiders in a 40-8 humiliation at Ausgrid Stadium, and a position in the eight seemed a certainty.

Consecutive losses to the Warriors and Broncos has changed that, and a red-hot Rabbitohs unit are waiting to pounce on the finals spot.

Canterbury were gallant in defeat against Manly last weekend, but no points are awarded for a gallant loss and the equation here could not be more simple: win or the season is over.

The Knights come into this one on a five-day turnaround after being battered by the Broncos, and this is the acid test for them.

Both sides have it all to play for, if they are resilient enough. This one should be a cracker.
