Usain Bolt anchors Jamaica to World Record relayAnchored by Usain Bolt, Jamaica’s 4x100m relay team has annihilated the field at the world athletics championships in Daegu, setting a new world record of 37.04sec in the process.

The team of Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Yohan Blake and Bolt never looked like being caught, especially after their main rivals the United States failed to finish.

The Jamaicans shaved 0.06sec of their previous best of 37.10sec, set at the final of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, claiming the only world record set at the meeting.

It had been a tumultuous seven days for the megastar Bolt.

An uncharacteristic false start last Sunday night led to a controversial disqualification under the IAAF’s new ‘one-start rule.

But the fastest man on the planet was back to his devastating best on Saturday in the 200m final, streeting the field with ease after recording the fourth-fastest time in history.

The Jamaican’s time of 19.40sec was an emphatic display of his unquestionable power, and reminded the world what it had missed after his 100m disqualification.

Bolt continues to exist on a completely different level to his fellow athletes.

When he races it is not a question of how, but by how much.

Providing there is no mishaps like the false start last Sunday night, Olympic glory in London next year appears a mere formality for Bolt.
