Fathers’ Day has come and gone, but Christmas is not that far away. It’s about time Test cricketers look around for ghost-writers to do their autobiographies.
I got these ideas when watching the Galle Test between Australia and Sri Lanka on the telly.
Tall Trent Copeland getting a wicket off his second ball in Test cricket inspired me with this novel idea. Why not title his biography, ‘Cope Lands a Winner’?
Then I saw Peter Siddle in the Australian dressing-room between Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey. The title of his bio/ghosted autobiography? ‘Siddle in the Middle’.
Or perhaps, ‘My Forgotten Hat-Trick’.
Doug Bollinger, with his contrasting hair-dos and expertise in clowning, has a book in him for sure: ‘BO Lingers on’.
Still with the quickies. ‘Dizzy Heights’ should be an apt title for Jason ‘Dizzy’ Gillespie’s best-seller.
Talking of Jasons, the other Jason, ‘Crazy’ Krejza, has just the title to tantalise readers: ‘Crazy Tale – 8 for 215 and none after that’.
‘Star Waughs’ need no introduction nor ‘What’s on, Watson’, ‘Taylor-made’ and ‘Mark My Words’.
Bosom buddies Simon Katich and Michael Clarke can have a joint autobiography titled ‘Kat and Pup story’.
Some more zany titles: ‘I blew it’ by Greg Blewett, ‘From hero to Zoehrer’ and ‘Maybe or maybe not’ by the two Tims and ‘What more do you want?’ by Dav Whatmore.
Visiting the TV commentators’ box, I threw in some titles; ‘Richie Rich’, ‘Greigy’s Great Tall Tales’ and ‘It’s All Happening’, but was shooed off.
As The Roar is also widely read in England, here are some Bio titles for the Ashes winners: ‘Eat, Pray and Cook’, ‘It rings a Bell’, ‘My Broad, Broad Ways’ and ‘Swann Song’.
Roarers are requested to send in more such whimsical bio/auto titles.
Meanwhile, may I request the Test stars who aspire to be authors to hurry up with their life stories? Your ghost writer is waiting!
