It’s not often that a team that’s in the top three loses four games in a row at home, but that is the prospect that Melbourne Heart face when they host Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park, live from 7.45pm AEDT. Join us for live commentary from the kick-off.

Since their thrashing of Sydney FC just before the New Year Melbourne have failed to win a game, and save for a point at Skilled Park against Gold Coast United, have failed to claim any sort of result.

Consecutive home losses to Adelaide, Perth and Central Coast precede this clash with the Roar, whose confidence will be on a high after their great escape against Sydney last weekend.

Besart Berisha, who took time out of his busy street-fighting schedule to score the winner in that Sydney clash, taking his season tally to ten, though he has only grabbed one away goal this year.

The Roar will be trying for their first away win since round seven when they beat Newcastle, which along with a victory over Sydney FC in round two is their only away wins of the season.

The Heart have been a bit unlucky in terms of scheduling, having to play both of the grand finalists from last year and current top two teams on the ladder in the space of a couple of days.

But in their defence they were very unlucky against the Mariners, in which the visiting team’s keeper Mat Ryan was far and away the man of the match.

The focus will be on the returning Thomas Broich and Henrique for Brisbane, who both came off the bench last weekend, and could be in line for their first starts in a couple of months.

And as Brisbane get their chief playmakers back, the Heart lose theirs with Brazilian midfielder and club captain Fred facing a stint on the sidelines for at least a month.

Which is why John van ‘t Schip has reached out for former Adelaide United midfielder Paul Reid – signing the 32 year old on a short-term deal to cover for the loss of their talisman.

Sadly for the Heart, his registration will not be cleared in time but they will welcome back former skipper Simon Colosimo and striker Eli Babalj, who were rested in the loss to the Mariners.

Regardless of injuries, no team wants to lose four games in a row at home and given the importance of second place on the ladder, this match between second and third should be a cracker.

It is without doubt the clash of the round, and both teams will be desperate to make a statement tonight. Join us just before 7.45pm AEDT for all the line-ups, formations and team news as we cover all the action with live scores and a blog, and if you’re watching, leave us a comment in the space below.
