Now I know Cristiano Ronaldo is known for scoring some incredible goals, but his recent effort against Rayo is just ridiculous. With the score locked at 0-0, this amazing goal gave Real Madrid a 1-0 lead and would end up being the only goal scored in the match.
It’s little wonder that Madrid sit 13 points clear atop the La Liga standings. There’s not much you can do to stop goals like this.
People are going to say it’s a lucky goal. They’re wrong.
Firstly, the back-heel was exactly what he was trying to do. It wasn’t a mistake. Secondly, look at the pace he gets on it. It’s shot from around the penalty spot to the opposite corner and the ball is still rocketing by the time it reaches the bottom corner of the net.
So no fluke, just another incredible bit of skill from Ronaldo.
Where it ranks amongst his top goals still remains to be seen, but you’ve got to think that it’s close to one of his greatest ever.
