Hawthorn will look to return to the top eight as they host Fremantle in Launceston. We’ll have live scores from 2.10pm AEST.
The Hawks are currently 4-3 and in ninth place, a record they would not be content with.
Wins the last two weeks against St Kilda and Melbourne have restored optimism, not to mention flag favouritism, but they can’t afford to slip again.
While their record at Aurora Stadium is normally pretty good, a major fadeout three weeks ago against Sydney will be fresh in their minds.
The Dockers are in sixth place with five wins and have two on the trot after accounting for Gold Coast and Port Adelaide.
Ross Lyon is making his mark on the team, and since Round 1 no side has kicked over 100 points in a Fremantle match.
The trip to Tassie is a long one for West Australian teams, but Freo have made the trek many times now.
A win over Hawthorn would mean another big scalp and plenty of confidence for Fremantle. But the Hawks will be desperate to avoid a 4-4 record, especially with the race for final positions looking so tight.
Josh Gibson is back for the Hawks, which is an important addition.
At the Dockers, Jay van Berlo comes in for Adam McPhee.
Sam Mitchell is leading the way this year at Hawthorn, averaging 26 touches a game. Buddy Franklin, although he’s been inaccurate, remains the club’s best goal kicker with 19 to his name.
The Dockers don’t have a standout ball winner, with Tendai Mzungu, Michael Johnson and Michael Barlow all averaging 22 touches a game. Chris Mayne has the most goals with 13, Matthew Pavlich has just 11.

Good result for Hawthorn. But another very average crowd at Luannie. It makes tou wonder why Hawthorn persist with their presence there, when they would have got three times the crowd at the ‘G. Here we had the ‘home’ side biding for a premiership this year against a definate top 8 side, yet could only half fill the stadium. AD was right about not letting a Tasmanian team in the AFL – there is simply not enough people (or passion) to justify having a full time side down there
