What’s the real reason why Gallop jumped?

The boss of the NRL does not quit eight days before the biggest game of the year without a very good reason.
The real story behind the story will be fascinating reading as it is played out.
The NRL Commission would like all the focus on the big State of Origin game II to be played at ANZ, which is a sudden death match for NSW if they are defeated by Queensland.
Instead the Gallop resignation will capture all the headlines.
The timing would certainly not be the preferred choice of the Commission unless they have an untenable reason.
What is it?
It is common knowledge that Gallop and Commission Chairman John Grant did not swap Easter eggs, and that he found the entire Commission hard to work with.
The mail from the café, only a drop kick away from NRL Central, is that Gallop found the Commission members to be very opinionated and difficult to influence.
All that innuendo is well and good but that does not explain the timing.
Gallop had recently signed a multi-million dollar four year contract. If all was not well, and a parting of the ways was imminent, then surely after the final Origin game was played would have been the time to go. Why now?
Was it Gallop’s secret meeting to discuss refereeing with Freddy Fitter that set off a fuse?
The big plunge on the Melbourne Storm days before the formal announcement that they would become wooden spooners has never been explained.
It is also known that Gallop has many Player Managers “offside”, who had first-hand knowledge of many deals that were done including the controversial Gold Coast Titans.
Because the real reason behind Gallop leaving the NRL is unknown, sadly, we will be guaranteed of sustained media before and after next Wednesday night, robbing Origin II of valuable publicity.
The line by John Grant that the NRL need a “Fresh approach going forward” does not cut the mustard with what looks to be a sacking, rather than a simple resignation.

Gallop’s departure comes on the back of the ACMA issue of Channel 9 commentators using NRL Coverage to promote political views on poker machine reform… a coincidence?…
Its an egregious situation that Channel 9 holds the NRL brand in such contempt, that it can hijack its coverage to get to the NRL viewing demographic and push its political opinions.
I’d like to think that Gallop went to the board to demand it tear-up Channel-9s contract… which precipitated his ousting.

I think Gallop may of been pushed becoz off his seemingly obsession as he put it of saturating the Sydney market, and not haveing the guts to get rid of manly or the Sharks.
He didn’t seem keen on a Perth team or a 2nd Bisbane team, in fact he seemed anti expansion full stop.

Haha that is so funny. Johnno I know most people that go to Canberra games are where another jersey or “used to support” someone else. Maybe the NRL has not gone National but the fans are. That is right alot of Sydney people who grew up in Sydney are not living there anymore. These people generate money by getting foxtel/austar. The only reason I have bought austar and several of school mates have pay tv in regional area’s is to watch MANLY. If you can/get rid of MANLY and CRONULLA you will be surprised how much foxtel loses. Plus you will have nothing to winge about ! I know many LEAGUE LOVERS that don’t love league anymore the BEARS RIP.

I think we ideally need someone not attached to a current club. Johnno we appoint someone from a club and we are going down the road that created the super league war in the first place. Manly was getting a perceived benefit from having Arko in the ARL. I used the phrase perceived however I personally think greed and TV rights drove the super league war however from Super League side they believe that Arko was effecting decisions for Manly’s benefit. Well the same thing is going to be perceived if we install Greenberg or Brunko or Porky or Andrew Gee it makes it hard but at the very least they have to be slightly impartial….

Well i have been saying it for months, he is simply not the right man to take the game forward. He was a steady influience on a game trying to self destruct, but now we are in move forward mode. Dave is not that man. He knows this, everyone else knew it, so he called time.
John Grant wants a go getter, a mover shaker, dont you read my posts, i scream every second day about this game needing to move forward, what you think i jkust enjoy talking to myself.
