Who the hell picks the Man of the Match? OK, I know it is the state selectors, but what do they see that we don’t? How could they choose Nate Myles over Brent Tate in the Melbourne game?
Tate was outstanding in that match.
In Wednesday night’s game, Robbie Farah made anywhere between 64 and 66 tackles, depending on who you talked to or read.
He was pretty good out of dummy half as well.
I hate Robbie Farah, but I would have thought he stood out more than Greg Bird did for the man-of-the-match gong.
The other thing that surprised me was Dave Shillington getting the Queensland players’ player.
What about Nate Myles?
I thought he was exceptional and head and shoulders Queensland’s best player last night.
So what do they see that we don’t?
What do they take into consideration that we don’t notice?

You hate Robbie Farah??????
Why?
He is probably one of the more genuine players in the NRL, and hasn’t put a foot wrong in the public arena.
It really erks me that some rugby league supporters like yourself will always have a hatred for any player that performs well, that is not in your team that you support. Dude, you really need to change your perception and views with “hatred” for certain players if you are going to post/write articles like the one above.

On the plus side, I’m sure Robbie doesn’t hate Hoy

The title is a it strong Ed. I was hoping to get people talking about who they thought was great and why, not that the choice was actually a farce.
And Billy, sorry to upset you, but I can hate who I want for any reason I want. You are right, Farah hasn’t done anything wrong in public, but I don’t like how he interviews, I don’t like his attitude in play, and I just don’t like him. Sometimes people just grate on you. You don’t know why, but they just do, and you will never like them.
But… I think he was robbed on Wednesday night. He should have been MOM, which is why I ask what they judge this on? What do they see that we don’t?

Sure you got the right to hate anyone you like, it’s just that nobody gives a rat arse about who you hate and the petty reasons why.
Interesting discussion point, though I thought Lewis was exceptional probably saved two trys.

Meh. Go back to the 80s, KW Lewis was going to be MoM before the game started.

Bird was my man of the match. I thought he stood out with his enthusiasm and he was all over everything for the entire contest, leading by example. Having said that I don’t think anyone would’ve complained if it went to Farah either.
Definitely not a farce. The Australian selectors choose the man of the match, who else is better qualified

I thought Bird was the best on the park for both games, obviously he couldn’t get the award in Game 1. Tate was the pick there but Myles got through a ton of work in a tough forward slog so I don’t think there can be any real complaints – it’s not like Buhrer got the gong.
In Game 2 Bird had a high work rate that was also high quality. He kept getting half through the defensive line and dragging defenders with him and really put his body on the line.
I wouldn’t have been disappointed if Farah got MoM but preferred Bird.

I agree! This whole scenario is a farce!
Mainly due to the fact that my rent was on Carney.
