South Africa and England drew 14-14 on Saturday in the final Test of a three-match series won 2-0 by the Springboks.
Recalled scrumhalf Danny Care darted in for England’s sole try in the 11th minute to give the tourists an early lead and a promising start to the third Test at a wet Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
But England lost five-eighth Toby Flood to injury early and South Africa ground their way back, with winger JP Pietersen’s second-half score putting the Boks narrowly ahead.
Replacement Owen Farrell levelled with a late penalty and he and opposite number Morne Steyn both missed late field goal attempts.

1.)One of the worst rugby match’s ever.
2.)Boks were back to their boring selves.
3.) England completely exposed them for the pretenders they currently are.
4.) The loss of Alberts and FSteyn basically rendered them impotent.
5.) England gave their best showing of the entire series and are the only team to have shown genuine progression throughout.
6.) Meyer’s bench was awful second week in a row.
7.) Morne Steyn is awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwfulllllllll
8.) Can we have PdV back now?
I expect a completely different backrow for the Rugby Championship. The one used in this match was a disgrace.
6.) Brussouw
7.) Alberts
8.)Vermuelen
is the way to go.

With respect Matthew that’s rubbish, the Springboks play a pressure game, if your flyhalf is gonna miss out on 5 scoring chances then it becomes very difficult as the opposition are free to impede. we’d have been better off playing Elton yesterday. Steyn is in the team to kick, if he’s gonna be shit at that he’d best be on his way

Whats rubbish? Maybe I was exaggerating when I said it was one of the worst games ever, but I I genuinely found the game terrible, easily the worst test match I’ve seen this year. The Bok’s play a pressure game but this type of kicking game, ie: kicking the ball straight back down your opponents throat continually just signals a complete lack of ideas. The couldn’t get proper tactical and territorial kicking going all night. In fact neither side could, it was appalling to watch.
Agreed about Steyn, one solitary string in his bow was when he was nailing 80 % of his kicks otherwise he’s got nothing.

Steyn has missed 12 kicks out of 22 kicks for the Series. That’s a crises. Considering these stats, it’s amazing the Boks actually won the series? Meyer has gone on record as saying he has given Morne three Super 15 games to get his kicking right.
But I think that will be too late, Meyer needs to make a gutsy call and drop his Bulls buddy now.
Too bad Goosen is injured, but we still have Lambie, Jantjies or Grant. None of them inspire me with confidence, but they are still better than keeping a kicking flyhalf in your team, that can’t kick?

At least the South African public got treated to a quality Bok win but that was the night before by their under 20 side. What they served up last night was just slop.
Awful performance from the Springboks. They were pathetic and clueless in attack. Morne Steyn is a real liability to that side. He is in awful form and the only thing he is good for (kicking) he gone south. They need to find other options at 10 because he is not getting the job done. They can kiss the four nations goodbye if they persist with Steyn because the All Blacks and the Wallabies will smash the Boks and Argentina at home as well. With a Bulls coach at the helm I cant see Steyn dropped any time soon

Possibly having his foot surgically removed from his mouth?

I actually stated this before the game:
“No, in all seriousness, I wouldn’t be shocked if England wins this one. The starting 15 besides Kirchner started this series as a pretty good side, now with injuries you have players who don’t deserve to be there oozing onto the field and the bench getting even worse. What happens when the bench comes on all at once (yet again) and the Boks are behind by 1-2 points? Things will go from bad to worse and the game will be lost by 10 or so points. Then England will go home chest beating, feeling good about themselves because they beat the Northern and Southern toilet cleaners as well as the “Full Strength” Bok side.”
Sit down, thank you.

In fairness, a lot of Bokke supporters spotted the problem with Morne Steyne a long time ago. His kicking really went awry and he doesn’t have much after that. They have a few players coming back for the August tests (not least Frans Steyn) and they will be different proposition then.
On the positive side for England, they have finally broken their 9-match losing streak against the Boks.

Splendid effort by the Red Rose.
They’ll give the Boks a jolly good bashing at Twickers. Martin Steyn is a pub player.

Viscount it seems you are happy with a draw, but in all fairness, the Poms deserved to win. They tackled thier hearts out and knocked the Boks back across the gainline. A win for England would have been a fair reflection of the game.

Pretty pathetic that in the last 10 matches a draw is the best result England has been able to gain… can’t really work out how the poms are walking away from this like they’ve won the series, but I guess mediocrity is a kind of success when you’re so used to losing against the mighty Bokke. Remember your last match at “Twickers” – the bokke bashed your red rose until your pretty white jerseys were the same colour.

Completely forgettable test in a completely forgettable test series.
Shows how much Alberts and F Steyn mean to the team. Olivier, Spies, Kankowski, Pienaar, Coetzee, Basson, Strauss… these names do not strike fear into anyone. Totally out of their depth. Amazing how the Bok tries dry up once Olivier is around. I’d say my real opinion on what I think of him but my post would be removed. Just on a side note, I’ve always thought Coenie Oosthuizen was a poor scrummager, however this series has shown that Strauss is the issue at the Cheetahs. Even PdV could see he isn’t up to it.
Koen has totally ruined Morne Steyn’s kicking for goal. He should be fired immediately for not doing his job. If Steyn’s poor form with the boot continues, Goosen will be taking the Bok 10 jersey very quickly (Or will he? Is Goosen a friend of Meyer’s? He isn’t a Bull, so maybe not)
Aplon played out of his skin. Hilarious, like a 10 year old boy hammering 100-110kg players around the field. Legend.
Anyway, now we have to get back to the sludge fest that is the unnecessarily long super rugby season… too much rugby, I’ll skip that, thanks.

How quickly we have fallen, the week before 25 minutes of the most intense rugby for more than 12 years, only to follow it up with 80 minutes of dredge.
Morne Steyn proved again, when the pressure is on he is clueless.

biltongbek – dont worry, AB’s still wont be underestimating the boks. i doubt this will be the side that fronts for the RC/4N this year. alot of players to come back from injury including the captain schalk burger.

Schalk is no longer Captain. Jean has made Captain, for this year. But you are correct, there are a few players returning. This result shows, Bok depth has been exposed as a myth, we are no better than the Wallabies, who lost to Scotland with their B team. Except the Wallabies A team is better than the Boks. Why can’t we play like the AB’s? The team this week was better without Carter and a host of others? The Kiwis could play three teams and still win?
