After years of taunting UFC Middleweight champion-Anderson Silva, has ‘The American Gangster’ Chael Sonnen finally got into the Brazilian’s head, just weeks away from their highly anticipated rematch for the title at UFC 148 in Las Vegas?
Silva sounded off during the UFC 148 media conference call on Monday afternoon and let Sonnen know his brutal intentions for the July 7th fight.
“I’m going to break his face and every tooth in his mouth,” Silva said through his manager. “I know he’s on the call listening to this and playtime is over. There’s no more talking from him. I’m going to beat him out of the UFC. I’m going to make him pay for everything he’s said about me, my family and my country. I’m going to beat him like his parents should have to teach him some manners.”
“No more s–t talking from him. Chael Sonnen’s going to get his ass kicked like he’s never gotten his ass kicked before. This is going to be violent and I am sorry. I’m going to make sure that every one of his teeth are broken, that his arms are broken and his legs are broken. He’s not going to be able to walk out of the Octagon by himself. I can guarantee that. He will need a plastic surgeon afterwards.”
UFC president Dana White described this tirade as uncharacteristic saying, “He is usually so respectful and doesn’t say anything negative or disrespectful. I’ve never heard Anderson talk like this once.”
Does this mean that Sonnen’s mind games have paid off or is Silva’s killer instinct starting to show?
Sonnen downplayed Silva’s attack on FUEL TV show UFC Tonight, instead saying it was nice to see the real Anderson Silva show up.
“I don’t care about being in his head,” said Sonnen. “It was very nice to finally see the real Anderson Silva come on through. He wants to put on a mask and look down at me and have me wilt, but that’s not gonna. I’m a gangster from West Lynn, Oregon.”
“There’s a venue where we can figure this out on 7/7/12 at 7pm, 10 in the east and only on PPV, I will be in that Octagon. If he wants to meet me like a man, fine, but if he doesn’t, I’m gonna spear double, run him into the cage and put him on his ass and run my fist into his head for 25 minutes or until he gives up.”
Whatever all this means, it sure builds the excitement for the fight, which is expected to surpass one million PPV buys.

I wouldn’t want to be Chael Sonnen squaring up next weekend.
Hopefully it doesn’t turn into a Silva v Maia fight where an arrogant Silva just showboats.
Unlikely considering Chael’s style but still a distinct possibility.
