Melbourne Victory sign Flores

Melbourne Victory have signed former Adelaide United playmaker Marcos Flores to fill the gap left by the unexpected departure of Harry Kewell.
The Argentinian, who has committed to the Victory for two years, won the Johnny Warren Medal as the A-League’s best player in 2010-11, his only previous season in Australia.
He has since played with Chinese club Henan Jianye, who released him in June.
Flores will be the Victory’s international marquee player, filling the club’s last slot for an overseas signing.
Coach Ange Postecoglou said he knew from experience coaching against Flores during his previous A-League season what a threat the 26-year-old could be.
“Marcos is the type of player you don’t really want to come up against as an opposition coach,” Postecoglou said.
“Having him on board with us now will be really exciting, not only for the club but for our fans also.”
Postecoglou said it was a sign of Flores’ quality that he had such a big impact in his first season in the A-League, given it normally took foreign players time to adapt.
Flores said it was an exciting time to be joining the Victory, with Postecoglou and a group of new players arriving.
“Victory have many great players and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone better,” he said.

Ange Postecoglou has already proven himself as a great coach and people manager – he understandin Australian football, and his new team hasn’t even kicked a ball in the A-League yet.
What the heck is wrong with the rest of you A-League managers.
I am talking to you Mr Crook, pay attention!

Our marquees are taken up via Carle and Emerton.
Watch for Emerton to have a massive second season. He was never at 100% fitness last season.

You bewdy.
Can’t wait for him to slide past the flat-footed Adelaide defenders at Hindmarsh.

on paper it looks like a great signing. hope he can reproduce the form he displayed in his 1st stint in the league. On another point there alot of people from south melbourne at victory. hopefully this will mean supporters of south melbourne which have not jumped on board will now do so and not disenfranchise current members who where affiliated to other clubs in the nsl. i know people have long memories and might be pissed of if they think they are supporing south melbourne in disguise.

money dasilva. They had enough to table an offer (and space under the cap not required as Flores is their int. Marquee) and we did not. Our Int. Marquee is Serge van Dijk.
