The Cronulla Sharks host the Sydney Roosters at Toyota Stadium in Round 18 NRL action on Monday Night Football. Join us for live NRL scores and commentary from 7pm AEST.

The Sharks (6th) have a chance to jump back into equal second position on the Premiership table with a win over the Roosters on Monday Night Footy.

Cronulla have been the surprise packets of season 2012 and go into the game as clear favourites. But weird old things happen on Monday nights in the National Rugby League.

Todd Carney and Paul Gallen return from State of Origin duty and will help a young Cronulla side that outplayed the Brisbane Broncos last Friday night with an impressive performance. Both have had plenty of time to recover and should have shaken off any post-Origin blues.

Brian Smith’s Roosters (14th) have been ordinary so far this year and will need to be switched on if they are to steal the points at Shark Park. The Roosters were destroyed by Manly in their last start and the bye came at the right time for the Bondi club.

Braith Anasta will also celebrate his 250th NRL game.

Cronulla have won four of their past seven against the Roosters, but need to be wary of the wounded side. The Sharks might be flying, but you can smell an ambush if the Sydney forward pack fires.

Both coaches are expecting a torrid affair in the middle of the ruck with the Roosters selecting Mitchell Aubusson in the centres and Frank-Paul Nuuausala at lock.

Expect another big performance from Wade Graham who is in career best form. There are plenty of hotheads in both sides, so get ready for plenty of fireworks.

With Gallen and Carney backing up and a bruising encounter last start against the Broncos, you cant blame the Sharks if they are little off. Expect a very tight game.

The Roosters can win this game, they have the strike to do it. But will they be close enough when the game is there to be taken?
