The Cronulla Sharks host the Sydney Roosters at Toyota Stadium in Round 18 NRL action on Monday Night Football. Join us for live NRL scores and commentary from 7pm AEST.
The Sharks (6th) have a chance to jump back into equal second position on the Premiership table with a win over the Roosters on Monday Night Footy.
Cronulla have been the surprise packets of season 2012 and go into the game as clear favourites. But weird old things happen on Monday nights in the National Rugby League.
Todd Carney and Paul Gallen return from State of Origin duty and will help a young Cronulla side that outplayed the Brisbane Broncos last Friday night with an impressive performance. Both have had plenty of time to recover and should have shaken off any post-Origin blues.
Brian Smith’s Roosters (14th) have been ordinary so far this year and will need to be switched on if they are to steal the points at Shark Park. The Roosters were destroyed by Manly in their last start and the bye came at the right time for the Bondi club.
Braith Anasta will also celebrate his 250th NRL game.
Cronulla have won four of their past seven against the Roosters, but need to be wary of the wounded side. The Sharks might be flying, but you can smell an ambush if the Sydney forward pack fires.
Both coaches are expecting a torrid affair in the middle of the ruck with the Roosters selecting Mitchell Aubusson in the centres and Frank-Paul Nuuausala at lock.
Expect another big performance from Wade Graham who is in career best form. There are plenty of hotheads in both sides, so get ready for plenty of fireworks.
With Gallen and Carney backing up and a bruising encounter last start against the Broncos, you cant blame the Sharks if they are little off. Expect a very tight game.
The Roosters can win this game, they have the strike to do it. But will they be close enough when the game is there to be taken?
Join the chat from 7pm AEST as we cover the action with live scores and commentary and if you’re watching or following along, drop in your thoughts about the game.

Don’t understand why NRL teams don’t practice field goals more particularly with the advent of Golden Point. 10 field goal attempts and not one successful, that is ridiculous. Shows the difference in playmakers that Qld have and they stepped up when it mattered.

NRL Round 18
Sharks 14 Roosters 14
Full Time
The Sharks and the Roosters have drawn in a gruelling test of character tonight at Toyota Stadium. Both teams had plenty of field goal chances in a frantic golden point period, but neither side could steal the win. The Roosters fought their way back into the game late with a try to Aidan Guerra, but neither side could split the draw in the extra period.
Both forward packs toiled all evening and there will be plenty of sore bodies tomorrow at their recovery sessions. Bryce Gibbs and Wade Graham were titanic for Cronulla, while Jake Friend and Nafe Seluini worked hard for the away side.
In the end though both sides will split the points in a dramatic game of footy at Shark Park.

Half Time
The Sharks lead the Roosters by a converted try here at half time in Monday Night Football at Shark Park. Its been a gold old fashioned arm wrestle in the first half and both sides have been more than aggressive trying to grab the upper hand. The Sharks have looked dangerous through the centre of the ruck and than playing flat and wide to Carney and Graham. The Roosters have looked equally dangerous with their short side raids down the Sharks left hand side defence. This game could still go either way and plenty will be expected from State Of Origin stars Mitchell Pearce and Todd Carney in the second stanza.

Expecting huge things tonight from new Sharks skipper Wade Graham. After last weeks performance and the little c next to his name, big game from Graham tonight. Still going to tip the Roosters though. Kickoff not too far away.

Are either of these teams in a position to bid for Luke Lewis?I would suspect the Sharks with there already Panther connection may be in a better position than the Chooks.

Forget SBW and his 1 year contract, Roosters should sign Lewis. Would be a perfect mentor for a great young forward pack.

Bukuya not a huge loss as a fired up Tupou will be keen to make up lost time. Graham into lock, Frizell replaces Smith. Still a good backrow and big size bench. Roosters don’t want to be at a cold Shark Park on a Monday night, and Sharks need to get back into top 4.

This will be a tight game. No Gallen, Bukuya or Smith for the Sharks is a lot of strike power to lose in the backrow.
