Mundine’s mouth is making Mayweather take notice

Anthony ‘The Man’ Mundine may be criticised by many boxing fans, but the former world champion’s “big mouth” is making the world take notice.
Mundine made his US debut on Saturday night in Las Vegas, where he stopped Bronco McKart in the seventh round. The boxing identities that were seen and heard ringside were the biggest positives for Mundine, who looks to shake up the 154lb division.
The entourage of Mundine’s dream opponent and the world’s best fighter, Floyd Mayweather Jr, were all in attendance, and a brief encounter with rapper 50 Cent allowed Mundine to stake his claim to Floyd’s closest friend.
Mundine told the rapper, “I’ve got mad respect for Floyd, he’s the best, but hopefully I’ll beat some of the fighters and we’ll fight.”
The rapper replied, “Yeah, we’ll talk, we’ll do business.”
Mundine proceeded to call out Mayweather again after stopping McKart, but with Mayweather Jr’s father sitting ringside, he squashed any chance of a fight as he took the microphone in the centre of the ring.
“Mundine’s chances of facing Floyd are slim to none,” said Mayweather. “Floyd’s the man to meet, if you wanna get beat.”
But surely it wasn’t coincidence that the whole Mayweather clan was in attendance with a huge title fight just down the road. So possibly they’re looking at Mundine as a warm-up fight for Floyd when he comes out of lockup?
One thing can be concluded, Mundine’s mouth is making the world take notice.

Yeah I can just see it, old ‘fiddy cent’ goes round to Money’s house for a bbq & tells him ‘ you should fight that Mundine’ & Money says ‘yeah, stuff fighting the actual number one contender or any of thos other guys who are next in line !, I’ll fight whoever you tell me fiddy’.
I have been a fan of Mundine for a while so not slagging him off but seriously, from what I can garner all the quotes in articles are actually from Mundine relaying what other people said to him, not actually from them, apart from Money Snr telling him get real. I’d love to see Mundine get a chance to fight a bigger name & see how it goes but the leap from McKart to Mayweather is a rather large one & that sort of step up usually only happens when someone needs a chump. I’d hate to see that happen to him.

Havin’ a laugh.
Mayweather is in the top two pound for pound in the world. Look at who he fights – Cotto, Marquez, Mosely, Hatton, De La Hoya. Of course he will eventually face Pacquiao as well. He endlessly boasts about being “Money” Mayweather, being the PPV king.
Mundine is pretty much unknown in the US, and will not generate any PPV audience. Not to mention he isn’t fit to wrap Mayweather’s hands. Even once he is out of jail, he wont need a tune up – he went 18 months without a fight before outclassing Juan Manuel Marquez, one of the greatest fighters of recent times. If he does decide he wants an easy fight he will pick a Mexican, who will generate far more PPV buys than Mundine.

You people know nothing, potter aside. You doubt they were there? They WERE there on the telecast, Floyd Snr got in the ring and spoke! Jay you complain that Mundine fights nobodies, yet also complain that he wants to fight the worlds best. This is blind hate. Makes no sense fellas! Seriously. Who the hell is Danny Santiago? A nobody. Dib just staged a “non title fight”- what is this WWE Smackdown?

Not hate at all. It’s the truth. If he wants to fight the worlds best he needs to step up and fight decent contenders to make the worlds best sit up and listen. He’s had opportunities to do that and chosen not to. Instead he fights lower fighters to make himself look good. This article from The Roar sums it up nicely:

As do a couple of others.

I hope he wins his next couple of fights and gets his shot at Mayweather and knocks him out!
That would be huge for Australian boxing and we definitely need it!

Dream on. Although, I would enjoy immensely seeing The Mouth ending up flat on his back in the ring.
Mzndine is a trashtalker, Mayweather is an actual fighter.

Well dream or no dream it would be great for Australian boxing and would certainly make a legend out of Mundine

It would be awesome.
But, just like an Australian winning the Masters in golf, I’ll be shocked if it happens.

Why should Mayweather fight Mundine? Mundine is making a career out of fighting nobodies. That this most recent fight even went to 7 rounds is evidence enough. If Mundine is so good and worthy of fighting someone like Mayweather he should have finished it in the 1st.

I hope Mundine does end up fighting Mayweather. Would make for amusing viewing, and might finally shut the man up.

As you say, his mouth.
Not his boxing.
As always.

I believe Mayweather Snr made these comments before Mundine’s fight. It would suprise me if they were actually at Mundine’s fight. Not only was it not the biggest fight of the night in Vegas that night, it wasn’t even on the same card or in the same ring as the biggest fights that night.

In some ways Mundnine would be crazy to fight Mayweather. He’d get cleaned up, but it would be a pretty good payday and a chance to foot it with the best.
Wouldn’t be much of a contest i wouldn’t imagine.
