Is Travis Cloke back?

A sight for sore eyes. That is the best way I can describe Travis Cloke’s performance on the weekend against a young Greater Western Sydney Giants outfit.
Cloke is arguably the most important player in the AFL when up and running. On the weekend, Cloke seemed to regain some of his 2011 form, which won him All-Australian selection.
After having his tumultuos contract talks put on hold by the club during the week, he seemed to play with more freedom and less pressure. He racked up 21 disposals, 11 marks and 6 goals for the 2010 Premiers.
This performance still has me wondering, though. Is Travis Cloke is back in form? Or was his performance influenced by the fact he was playing against the likely wooden spooners, an undersized and inexperienced GWS side.
GWS, in their maiden year in the AFL, have made a lot of sides look better than they are.
The real test for Cloke and the Magpies is in the coming weeks, with matches against Sydney, West Coast and Essendon.
What do you think Roarers? Is this the beginning of a special run of form for the Magpies star or was it a one off?

Short and simple…no he isn’t back. Cloke will be at a different club next season.

back? he hasn’t gone anywhere. face it 2011 was one out of the box. 2012 resembles 2008-2010 beating up on poor sides/ undersized defenders, struggling against better sides/ defenders his own size,

6 goals against tiring GWS. Hardly.
How much of Collingwood’s score was achieved after about the 18 min mark of each quarter.
The young Giants kids just can’t run out a quarter presently.

Clokes performance was described as a big kid playing with little kids in a sand pit. If you read the price tag now its not as much as last years and if performances do not improve against the big clubs soon any club might pick him up for cheap. Collingwood did the right thing and Cloke is now on a performance based contract already – like it or not. I think everyone has had enough especially the Magpie fans, the coach and Eddie.

6 goals against a side that is full of 18 year old kids in their first season of AFL hardly equates to being back in form. I agree with hawker, 2011 for Cloke was an out of the box season in an otherwise mediocre career.

Cloke can’t be judged on his display against the Breakfast Point Boys Club. My grandmother could kick six against those kiddies……better wait until he plays a real football team before passing judgement !!!!!
