St Kilda‘s campaign to make it to September demands a win today against Melbourne. We’ll have live scores from 1.45pm AEST.

While the Saints are now two games behind North Melbourne, Essendon and Fremantle – the teams that occupy seventh through ninth – their season isn’t yet shot.

Percentage is on their side, and a big win today would only enhance that advantage, plus each of the clubs have four games to play.

The equation for St Kilda this week though is simple: get the four points or it’s season over.

As for the Dees, they’ve seemingly been treading water since the season-ending injury to Mitch Clark. They haven’t sunk completely, but they don’t look likely to cause an Essendon-type upset again, either.

If they do have one thing going for them this afternoon, it’s momentum. They got the four points last week against fellow strugglers Gold Coast.

The Saints very nearly drew with Collingwood last weekend in a tense game, going down by a goal.

Their best performers were Lenny Hayes, Leigh Montagna, Brendon Goddard (all above 25 disposals) and Ahmed Saad, who had four goals.

In the Demons’ 42-point win over the Suns, Brad Green had five goals and Nathan Jones 29 touches.

Beau Wilkes comes in for Dean Polo at the Saints, while Matthew Bate, Neville Jetta and Jordie McKenzie replace James Frawley, Cale Morton and Jordan Gysberts at Melbourne.
