After an inauspicious start to their 2014 World Cup Qualifying campaign, Holger Oseick’s Socceroos will be looking for form when they face Scotland in Edinburgh this morning. We’ll have live scores and updates from 5.00am AEST.

Two stalemates, away against Oman and then home against group heavyweights Japan, have left Australia with only two points from their opening matches, meaning an already-difficult path to Brazil has become that much harder.

It might not be panic stations yet but tricky away trips to Jordan and Iraq loom.

After a meek, soulless performance against the Danes in Copenhagen back in early June it was unsurprising that the Socceroos performed as they did. Friendlies against Scotland this morning, and Lebanon early next month provide Oseick with the opportunity to get his men on the front foot.

They’ll go into the clash against the Scots missing a host of first-team regulars. Kewell, Cahill, Kennedy and Emerton will all be absent. Several fringe players, including Scott McDonald and Neil Kilkenny, are expected to get the opportunity to impress from the opening kick-off with starting positions.

Scotland will be led by the likes of Charlie Adam, James Morrison and Robert Snodgrass, and after being hammered 5-1 by the United States in Florida in late May, will be expected to rebound in front of an expectant home crowd.
